General Description and Classification Standards
This position coordinates and acts as a liaison between customers and service technicians when cars or other vehicles need servicing or repairs. Enters detailed repair malfunctions in the service center computer system and prepare detailed instructions for service technicians to include repair parts. Also acts as the service receptionist when dealing with customers at vehicle check-in and handover. Schedule servicing or repairs and discuss customer requirements. Provide customers with estimated costs and repair times and notify customers of additional or extended repairs. Check vehicle warranties and/or extended warranties for cost recovery.
Supervision Received
Works under minimal supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. May assist in training, orienting, or observing lower-level associate, apprentice, or semi-skilled employee in the group.

- Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms, clarify descriptions of problems, conduct inspections, test drive vehicles, check vehicle maintenance records; and examines service schedules.
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and documents, explains provisions and exclusions.
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.
- Prepares repair work orders (WO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required, obtain approval signatures and open (WOs) in the service center database.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining repairs and estimated vehicle return times.
- Obtain and provide contact telephone numbers, answer questions and concerns, arrange towing and temporary transportation if needed.
- Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and by reading manufacturer's publications.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Complete daily reports and coordinate vehicle pickups.

Provides guidance and training as required to lower level, interns, temporary employees, etc.
