Job Summary/Description:
The DCM leads digital teams and is a newsroom manager who understands good storytelling in both the digital and broadcast worlds. The DCM collaborates with station management on planning, coaching and execution. In addition, the DCM oversees daily operations on web, mobile, social and OTT and should have the vision for new systems and the ability to execute that vision in the constantly evolving world of local news. We're looking for an aggressive leader who will always represent all things digital. The DCM collaborates with Sales and Marketing by providing metrics of performance for all station products and accounts.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
•Collaborate with other news managers on strategies for the digital department.
•Understand and execute ethical, responsible news judgment.
•Oversee all digital platforms including web, mobile, live streaming, and all social platforms including Facebook and YouTube.
•Write stories, and create social media posts, app alerts, and related content.
•Foster a digital news culture that focuses on urgency, journalism, and collaboration.
•Help lead news staff, providing insight, guidance, managerial feedback, and reporter script approvals.
•Be excellent in developing all newsroom staffers for spelling and grammar perfection.
•Must be an idea leader in the development and expansion of CTV (OTT) efforts at the station.
•Collaborate with Sales & Marketing departments by providing timely metrics and performance reports.
Qualifications/Requirements:
•Solid understanding of web publishing software. Demonstrated experience developing and publishing news stories. Educational background in either journalism or communications.Some leadership experience is required.
•A successful candidate should be familiar with editing videos, creating social media graphics, and writing for web and broadcast. Clear news judgment is required.Demonstrated experience developing and publishing news stories.
•Knowledge of AP Style is recommended. Solid understanding of digital analytics, industry trends, and social media strategy. An educational background in either journalism or communications is preferred and previous leadership experience is required.
