The role requires someone who is able to think on their feet and who values immediacy - along with having the knack for longer-term planning. You will display excellent editorial judgment, and have flawless copy-editing skills.As this is a dual role, you will also have experience in curating a homepage, preferably for a major news site across both mobile and desktop, and be an expert in headline writing. You will be a team player who is able to work cross-functionally with other editors, and have experience in managing a team of reporters. The role reports directly to the VP, Editorial and Content.What You’ll Do:Assign and edit news articles to a high standard.Come up with innovative story ideas - some that are steeped in economic data, and others that fall in line with the news agenda.Work closely with both full-time and freelance journalists and guide them with your feedback.Make editorial decisions steeped in data, and use those metrics to drive audience engagement.Curate the homepage, ensuring that it is crafted seamlessly for mobile and desktop.How We Work:We value creativity and innovation, supported by in-person collaboration. Our employees work in the office three or more days a week to foster a close-knit culture and drive collaboration.What You’ll Bring:Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a small team.A solid track record of overseeing articles from ideation through to hitting the publish button.At least six years’ experience as a senior reporter, and two years’ experience as a news editor at a major news organization.Full-time experience in homepage curation at a major news organization.Familiarity with content management systems.The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect in the listed locations.Salary Range for:New York $99,050 to $141,150Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work.
