Marketing Intern

Rowing Dock is looking for a paid marketing/content production intern to add to our small but mighty family. You will support the President with all communication efforts for the business, helping to continue to raise awareness and brand recognition for Rowing Dock through a variety of tactics, included but not limited to social media outreach, event and partnership outreach, and public relations efforts. Key responsibilities are outlined below.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, you will go through dock attendant training to provide a well-rounded understanding of dock operations. This will enable you to bring greater knowledge to your role as a marketer and will also give you a broader picture of business operations. This role reports to the President of Rowing Dock.
Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Strategy / Content Creation and Development
Strategy
Partner with President to produce monthly content strategy for Instagram and Tik Tok
Content Development
Become expert on what's trending on Tik Tok and Instagram. Use knowledge to provide content recommendations for how Rowing Dock can engage in trend
Send weekly content calendar for review, feedback and approval; schedule posts to go live on brand channels
Content Production
Use dock's digital camera to capture content on the dock that can be repurposed for social promotion
Capture video footage on the dock and edit it down for reels
Customer Response
Manage customer feedback/questions on social channels (Google Business, FB, IG). Customer questions should be responded to in timely manner (1-2 hours during business hours)
Website
Help manage/update website with new event listings, and updates to existing pieces of content
Review website pages for accuracy
Earned Media Outreach / Event Outreach
Build out media list, with focus on identifying reporters/influencers who are likely to be interested in Rowing Dock (e.g. they recently wrote the top 10 outdoor activities in Austin, etc.)
As needed, assist President with outreach to media outlets to promote new initiatives and to promote new events
Influencer
Conduct research to find, present, and secure influencers to add to brand ambassador team for Rowing Dock
Provide suggested feedback/edits to existing influencer content recommendations
Who you are:
You love spending time in the outdoors, whether that be through working out, hanging out with friends or spending time engraining yourself in nature
You consider yourself a content-social media expert (you know what's trending, you know how to produce content on the fly, you know local influencers)
You are a creative and a self-starter
You're a team player - e.g. you're ego-less and can wear multiple hats (Rowing Dock is a small but mighty team, and we're looking for someone who is able to jump in and pivot based on the evolving needs of the team)
You consider yourself detail-oriented
You have very strong written and verbal communication skills
You like conceptualizing new ideas and presenting them
Qualifications
This paid internship is ideal for rising college seniors, recent grads or those looking for a career change
You are available on a long-term basis (six months minimum)
You have experience on Tik Tok and Instagram and consider yourself content-savvy. You're comfortable creating and editing content for social channels.
Pay:
$20/hr
Schedule:Anticipate an average of 10-18 hours required/week. Some weeks could be less and some more, but we will work within your schedule to ensure it works for both parties.
Offsite vs. onsite:Requires a mix of on-site and remote work. Anticipate one full day remote and the remaining days onsite. Access to/use of a personal computer is required.
