Who We Want
The Sr Communications Specialist will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Marketing Communications to help execute Carson Group’s internal and external communications strategy.
Responsibilities include writing and coordinating a variety of employee as well as client-facing messaging, from creating talking points and slide decks to providing guidance on how executive communications should be delivered to our stakeholders. In addition, this person will own content creation and delivery for various communications and help execute special projects.
This role will require the ability to quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the organization, its audiences, business model, operating structure, and information flow. Advanced expertise with digital communication channels and tools is a strong asset. The ideal candidate will take ownership in the role while maintaining close partnership with stakeholders within marketing as well as those across the firm.
What To Expect
- Write employee and client communications content including newsletters, presentations and briefings that drive awareness, engagement and consideration
- Manage creation and delivery of day-to-day communications and underlying key messages
- Partner with department leaders across the organization to craft communications and product marketing content
- Assist with executive social media accounts and content, including social posts, videos and social imagery to accompany Carson’s online presence
- Manage the content and administration of the company's intranet
- Identify gaps in existing messaging and develop ways to strengthen the company’s voice across multiple communication channels
- Use exceptional writing skills for proofreading, editing content, creating email communications and ensure accuracy, clarity and consistent tone and voice
- Track and analyze communications metrics and extract insights on stakeholder engagement
What You Need
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English, or a related fields or a commensurate work experience
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate communications and/or marketing
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Experience developing key messages
- Ability to present complex concepts clearly and concisely
- Demonstrated ability to manage an executive’s social media presence
- Prior experience creating product marketing content and/or plans would be a plus
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage against tight deadlines
- Self-starter who can comfortably handle a degree of ambiguity
- Knowledge of financial services, insurance or related industry an asset but not required
- Knowledge of web content management systems such as Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint as well as familiarity with HTML, Google Analytics, Hubspot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Workshop, WordPress and Salesforce (or other similar software) is a plus
- Working knowledge of video communication best practices, editing, publishing, and monitoring is a plus
- Some travel may be required
