University of Connecticut Division of AthleticsJOB SUMMARYThe University of Connecticut Division of Athletics is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Strategy. This position will be responsible for the leadership of the creative arm of UConn Athletics, overall ideation, creative direction and production of new and creative digital content and media across multiple platforms as well as all traditional media, collateral and assets.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Strategy will oversee the athletic department’s social media, graphic design, and photography operations, including oversight of both full-time staff members and student interns. They will be an independent content creator, with the ability to successfully lead a team as well as lead collaborative efforts across multiple departments including Video Services, Marketing and Communications. The selected candidate will be forward-thinking, with the ability to lead and assist in developing and executing strategic content strategies and creative campaigns.The Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Strategy will serve to meet multiple priorities of our content strategy including developing a style guide, increasing overall content, cultivating fan engagement, increasing revenue generation and increasing brand and program awareness. Additionally, they will work to enhance the in-game fan experience to a broad spectrum of fans, prospective student-athletes, students and other stakeholders of UConn Athletics. The individual will possess highly effective communication skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, is a self-motivated and driven individual who has a passion for applying creativity and innovation to content creation.The Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Strategy will oversee and maintain the athletics website and app, micro-pages and ancillary athletics-related webpages. The individual will play an integral role in development, management and strategy related to UConn+, UConn’s first-of-its-kind endeavor in college athletics that combines live games and events, original content and other on-demand features. This position will require working irregular schedules, nights, weekends and holidays.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization such as graphic design, marketing, journalism, communication or other applicable area of study.Four years of related experience including at least two years of producing and managing multimedia content for digital platforms and/or in-game production and two years of experience in social media strategy and execution.Proficient experience with web design including HTML and CSS with programs such as Wordpress.Proficient experience in video content capture and editing.Proficient experience in photography and photography editing.Proficient experience with Adobe Creative Suite.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSTwo to four years of experience at an NCAA Division I institution or professional sports team.Prior leadership experience of direct oversight or management of a creative team and student interns.Experience as a creative team member for a sports program with a national footprint that competes for conference and national championships.Working knowledge of live event production.Working knowledge of videography production.Proficiency in animation/motion graphics such as Adobe After Effects.Experience working with website content management systems (Sidearm) and experience in Daktronics software.APPOINTMENT TERMSThis is a full-time, permanent position. The incumbent must have the ability to work flexible and irregular hours including weekends and holidays. Relocation assistance is not available.
