As the Technical Marketing Manager for our Construction segment, the desired and key expectations include maintaining regional standard margins, representing customer needs in regional and global construction processes, and ensuring quality technical service for our construction customers, and lead regional innovation projects in the Construction segment.
You will set business and opportunity priorities for the region, oversee construction planning and forecasts, develop marketing and sales tools, engage with customers, manage the regional portfolio, and establish regional pricing strategies. The position is a 50/50 split between a technical and marketing function.
RESPONSIBILITIESLead the regional market segment as the regional technical marketing manager for Construction, ensuring the safeguarding and profitable growth of the construction business according to business line (BL) expectations.Develop and implement detailed regional execution plans that incorporate global market segment strategy, tailored with regional insights, and ensure cross-functional alignment (especially with sales and technical teams) for successful execution.Assume Profit & Loss responsibility for the market segment in the AMERICAS, ensuring that volumes, sales, and margins meet the financial targets derived from segment and BL planning.Develop and prioritize regional portfolios (e.g., Innovation, Opportunity) in alignment with the market segment strategy and regional plans, coordinating the planning and prioritization of available and required resources.Gather, analyze, and translate regional and subregional market insights into actionable strategies.Execute regional marketing activities, including pricing, promotion, and other market communication strategies.Maintain effective support and interaction with the Global Head of Marketing for Construction, facilitating global strategic initiatives and ensuring regional contributions align with overall business objectives.Plan, coordinate, and execute marketing activities such as product launches, participation in trade fairs, and the development of sales tools and digital content.Support sales during key customer interactions and oversee the commercial aspects of regional innovation projects.Manage and optimize pricing strategies within the region, conducting regular evaluations and initiating proactive pricing optimizations to enhance market positioning and profitability.Oversee the communication strategy, ensuring effective internal and external messaging and alignment with global marketing efforts.Provide regular updates and reports on market conditions, campaign effectiveness, and other critical metrics to senior management.Lead the construction labs in Richmond and Americana, aligning technical activities with regional strategies and market needs.Responsibility for technical service to customers and to identify technical customer needsAccountable of being the technical expert to customers and being visible in the marketCollaboration with different global/regional functions, e.g. AT/TS, product management, sales, supply chain, EHS, R&DAttend technical conferences, standardization committees, industry events etc. and give technical speechesInitiation, planning and execution of innovation and application technology projects and the usage of dedicated toolsProvide technical trainings for customers, distributors and internal staffIdentify gaps in fulfilling regional technical needs and define roadmap to meet requirementsCompetitor analysis and watch of market trendsMaintain effective support and interaction with the Global Head of AT&TS ConstructionREQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.Minimum of 5 years of experience with technical products in industrial markets (e.g., chemicals, construction, coatings) or related experience.Experience in the chemical industry and familiarity with construction materials or markets is preferred.Strong understanding of chemical processes, formulations, and development is advantageous.Proven ability to lead lab technicians in R&D activities.Strong analytical capability, research, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, particularly in translating complex technical information into practical commercial applications.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical presentation tools.Willingness to learn or apply existing experience in commercial marketing and business development.Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.Willingness to travel (20-30%).Preferred :
Experience in product development or technical support for industrial or construction-related chemicals.A background in marketing, business development, or sales is highly advantageous.Candidates with an MBA or advanced degree in a related technical field will also be considered.
