About the role
As a Content Operations Specialist at NewsBreak, you will join our robust Content team, and play a pivotal role in shaping how our content meets the diverse needs of our audiences. This position bridges content strategy and technology, facilitating the delivery of innovative and trustworthy content products.
Responsibilities
- Curate compelling news content surfaced by algorithm and evaluate for engagement and strategic value
- Improve algorithm that autonomously identifies and packages relevant news content.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify bugs, implement enhancements, and develop methods to algorithmically identify fake news, thereby improving overall content ecosystem health
- Develop and apply a robust framework and metrics for measuring content quality.
- Work closely with external vendors and internal researchers to collect, review, and deliver high-quality content data.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to initiate new data collection projects, gathering requirements, crafting guidelines, and training the content annotation team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Linguistics, Digital Media, Library and Information Science, Communications, Creative Writing, English, or a related field. At least 1-2 years of experience in operations or strategy is preferred
- A solid understanding of journalism principles and ethics is essential. Candidates must possess the ability to stay up-to-date to the current events and critically analyze news content
- Excellent logical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Deep engagement with PGC and UGC products
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and tackling large, complex problems.
