Job Description
The Team Carney Security Research and Content Subject Matter Expert (SME) shall provide services for CDSE Education Division. Within these Division, the SME shall provide subject matter expertise and content development related to Security curricula.
The Education Division offers a curriculum of advanced and graduate courses designed for DOD security professionals seeking to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the security profession.
The SME for the Education Division shall support course content development and delivery.
This individual shall not instruct Education courses; however, the individual shall be instrumental in the development of new advanced and graduate-level courses and the maintenance of existing courses.
This is a hybrid position and will require one day a week onsite in Linthicum Maryland.
Minimum Requirements
- Education Division must have a master’s degree in security studies (this includes national security, security management, intelligence, criminal justice, homeland security, etc.)
- Current Personnel (Security) Clearance/ Eligibility (PCL) at the Secret level
- US Citizenship Required
- Mastery of the knowledge, skills, and policy related to their area of subject matter expertise and relevant work experience in their area of subject matter expertise.
Preferred Experience
- 2 years’ experience as a content /curriculum developer or instructor to adult learners, in a formal classroom or via distance learning courses, related to DOD Security Policy
- 5 years experience as SME in a security discipline.

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws.
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time status. Part-time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of Team Carney's total compensation package for employees.
