Job Description
Seeking a highly motivated 5+ years experience broadcast technician to join a creative and dynamic team producing live broadcast video content for the U.S. Department of State and digital partners. This position will serve as a broadcast technical expert with responsibility for the operation of broadcast equipment and execution of live programs toward broadcast and video-over-IP applications. Our ideal candidate will be highly skilled in performing hands-on studio and master control equipment operation and problem solving involving broadcast systems including: audio board technician (deep-menu-driven audio boards with digital signal routing and processing), camera, lighting, live switching, teleprompter, editing and graphics with primary experience in a live broadcast TV environment.

Key aspects of this role include:
● Responsibility for broadcast professional production values and aesthetic qualities of production including artistic and creative aspects directly in the roles of camera operation, audio mixing, TD and live master control routing.
● Knowledge of proper use and ability to operate and troubleshoot dozens of pieces of electronic broadcast equipment in the video control room is also necessary.
● Experience in live routing and encoding applications used for video-over-IP applications and live streaming on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Familiarity with RTMP, Teradek encoders, decoders, and CORE routing system highly desirable.
● Working as the technical lead for live broadcast programming, with proficiency in integrating virtual platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, Google meet with broadcast equipment and workflows.
● Developing proficiencies in all elements of live streaming applications including: creating live streams and channels, operating hardware and software encoders, CDN management, modifying and embedding video players, and multi-screen content delivery.
● Working closely with Office staff to maintain and develop the technical capabilities of the Broadcast Studio suite, ensuring each conforms to industry standards as well as the unique challenges faced by GPA as it seeks to reach audiences in low-bandwidth areas.
● Maintaining a pulse on emerging technologies related to online streaming and editing on- demand content.
● Providing ongoing, personalized, predictable, and friendly customer service and support that will help guide staff and management through technology changes.
● Helping create and implement change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage including but not limited to collaboration tools, mobile devices, media asset management (MAM) systems and protocols.
● Coordinating and conducting digital skill building training sessions to promote better adoption of digital strategies and workflows including but not limited to telework readiness and adoption of better media management/file management standardization and best practices.
BA required with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in broadcast studio applications. Our ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the most recent production advancements in the fields of live broadcast and digital technology, in order to help create products technically and aesthetically comparable to those produced by the news and commercial television industries.
