Content Manager - Corporate Communications Requisition 38021: B4 Content Manager - Corporate CommunicationsOverview and Primary Purpose:The Content Manager will work cross-functionally to oversee internal enterprise content ensuring it is timely, engaging, and supports corporate objectives. This role is responsible for coordinating, writing, and editing content for internal channels, collaborating with communications colleagues to ensure message discipline, and driving effective communications. The role also oversees the project management system and facilitates coordination across the communications team.A successful candidate will be an excellent writer and strategic storyteller, as well as a flexible project manager and problem-solver, able to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. They should have a passion for the power of communications to engage an audience, connect them to a company’s vision, and secure a strong internal reputation for a Fortune 300 company.Responsibilities:Content and Editorial Coordination: Partner with the communications team to build an editorial calendar that integrates key company milestones and prepares content for timely, high-quality release.Oversee and develop the department’s weekly content plan, leading a weekly content meeting to align on priorities and cross-promotional strategies.Proactively collaborate to cross-promote content.Edit, proofread, and write content for various platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with brand messaging and target audience.Project Management: Lead the successful distribution of visual and editorial projects by coordinating with designers, writers, and project managers to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.Maintain comprehensive project documentation ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned on project deliverables, distribution, and deadlines.Track projects, define milestones, assess risk, streamline processes, manage resources, and help projects meet deadlines.Internal Communications: Help drive internal communications strategies that enhance employee engagement and promote alignment with Norfolk Southern’s mission, values, and objectives.Collaborate with the communications team to develop and execute campaigns and initiatives that inform, inspire, and connect with employees.Process Optimization and Analysis: Streamline and improve existing processes, developing new scalable workflows to enhance efficiency in project execution.Track and measure the impact of communications efforts using dashboards and available analytics tools, providing insights on performance to improve strategies.Experience:6+ years’ experience in communications, public relations, marketing, mass communication, or related area.Proven storytelling, writing, messaging, and editing abilities; has experience telling engaging stories through different types of media.Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills; some experience with planning and managing events is ideal.Possesses a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a proven ability to manage up.Exhibits a high comfort level driving action in ambiguous or evolving situations; processes new information quickly and adjusts work accordingly; displays situational adaptability.Possesses excellent professional maturity, sound judgment, and good analytical skills.Skilled in using cloud-based SaaS platforms for project and workflow management (this is a must).Work Conditions:Shift Work: NoOn-Call: NoCompany Overview:Since 1827, Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC) and its predecessor companies have safely moved the goods and materials that drive the U.S. economy.
