Responsibilities:
  • Leads and coordinates work activities for assigned practice area and provides feedback to staff regarding performance under the direction of the manager.
  • Trains and mentors staff and residents and precepts students.
  • Participates in interviewing and recommends selection of candidates. Triages issues to management and follows-up.
  • Participates in operational tasks such as workflow oversight, process decision making, project implementation, and drug shortage management.
  • Ensures and maintains quality control in regards to patient care and medication and equipment usage.
  • Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
  • Advises prescriber of medication related issues and recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate.
  • Reviews, interprets, clarifies, enters, and verifies patient's information and medication orders for processing.
  • Assists with health-system level decision-making related to practice area, committee work, and decision making for relevant policies.
  • Provides drug information support for pertinent drug information questions.
  • Provides management support and demonstrates leadership for assigned practice area.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) accredited university.


Certifications:
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire.
  • For individuals required to administer immunizations, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire are required.
    For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events, current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA), or certification obtained within one (1) year of hire, is required.


Complexity of Work:
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.


Work Experience:
  • Completion of a Health-system Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residency or
  • Completion of either a post-graduate year 1 (PGY-1) or post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) plus minimum of 1 year relevant pharmacy experience or
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant pharmacy experience
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.


Physical Requirements:
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.


Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
