We aim to re-imagine middle school for the 21st century. Instead of seeing the middle school years as “awkward” and “difficult,” we think they’re the most important years to prepare students for happy and successful adulthood. We’ve built a team of leading educators guided by research and advisors in adolescent developmental psychology, and together we’re designing a new model for middle school: one that combines highly engaging and experiential academics with an approach that is social, personal, and rooted in the real world.The Opportunity: Director of Enrollment Management & CommunicationsThe Director of Enrollment Management and Communications, reporting directly to the Head of School, will oversee the strategic and operational aspects of admissions, enrollment, marketing, and communications. As a relatively young school, Millennium has undertaken several initiatives in recent years to enhance its visibility in the local community. These efforts include relocating the school to a new facility, conducting a market and demographic study, undergoing a full marketing and visual identity redesign, launching a new website, strengthening family and alumni engagement in the admissions process, and expanding parent education events to the wider community.Millennium is well-positioned to welcome a Director of Enrollment Management and Communications to lead and execute a comprehensive strategy for attracting and retaining families. This role requires balancing the day-to-day tasks of managing a personalized admissions cycle with implementing a broader, long-term vision. The Director serves as the public face of the school’s enrollment efforts and works collaboratively with all stakeholders to inspire community-driven outreach and engagement.Key Responsibilities:Admissions Strategy and Execution:
Design and execute annual admissions and enrollment goals and strategies.Deliver strategic thought leadership in admissions, marketing, and recruitment, and direct the process of attracting, selecting, and enrolling students.Supervise the Admissions and Communications Associate.Manage all admissions and enrollment-related functions, including coordinating and conducting tours, interviewing applicants, organizing school visits, and other admissions events.Maintain positive, consistent, and personal communication with prospective families.Actively recruit and forge relationships with feeder schools and educational placement consultants.Strategically broaden and deepen the school’s outreach in the community and into new areas.Gather, analyze, and present statistical and trend data on admissions, marketing, and enrollment.Ongoing Enrollment Management:
Manage new student enrollment and the re-enrollment process for current students.Build a school-wide enrollment management culture, ensuring all faculty and staff are engaged in the process of attracting and retaining mission-aligned families.Work with the Director of Operations to manage the Flexible Tuition (Financial Aid) program.Leverage available data to inform decision-making.Oversee the admissions information management and application software (Ravenna).Participate regularly in the life of the school.Champion and advance the school’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) efforts.Marketing and Communications:
Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan and budget, including the effective use of digital, print, social media, ads, and other platforms and communities.Support the Head of School and the administrative team in overall communication strategy and execution.Oversee the school’s public relations and digital storytelling efforts (videos, blogs, podcast).Manage external school communications, including the school’s weekly newsletter.Work with our design and marketing partners to produce all admissions marketing materials, including regularly updating the school’s website.Desired Skills, Traits, and Attributes:Passionate about “Whole-Self” development as the purpose of adolescent education.Personal practice and dedication to mindfulness, self-discovery, and Whole Self development.Knowledgeable of progressive, experiential education and Social Emotional Learning.Affinity for Middle School students.Knowledgeable of the SF Bay Area School market and independent school market trends.Able to navigate a fast-paced environment, demonstrate resilience, and adjust course when necessary.Hands-on, scrappy, entrepreneurial spirit to handle multiple tasks and get things done.Energy and enthusiasm to work simultaneously on multiple projects and manage competing priorities.Ability to model leadership, lifelong learning, healthy risk-taking, and resilience.Excellent interpersonal skills.Creative thinker and problem solver.Confident public speaker.Tenacious “salesperson.”Welcoming, positive, and helpful demeanor.Impeccable organizational skills and efficiency.Integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and an ability to balance multiple perspectives.Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and communication skills.A proven strategic thinker.Proficiency with technology (e.g., Ravenna, Google Suite).Demonstrated experience and commitment to personal development and improvement.High emotional intelligence, strong cultural competence, and a demonstrated belief in the value of a diverse and multicultural community.Desired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.At least 5 years of experience in a similar or related role.Experience as an independent school leader or administrator.Experience in marketing and communications.Experience or training related to adolescent development.Demonstrated success in setting expectations for professionalism, accountability, and collegiality.
