Join us as a Senior Manager, Media & Public Relations and lead our efforts to shape and share our brand narrative on a global scale.The Senior Manager, Media & Public Relations will be responsible for managing and executing strategies to promote and protect the company’s reputation. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with media outlets, coordinating public relations activities, and ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels.This position has an enterprise-wide scope of responsibility and influence with stakeholders across multiple locations and organizational levels domestically and internationally. This position will lead a small team of one Social Media Specialist.Duties / Responsibilities:Media RelationsDevelop and/or coordinate news releases enterprise wide.Coordinate reactive media responses across the company.Pitch targeted media on relevant stories that would include BWXT’s work as a primary or sole focus.Complete corporate reviews and approvals for all news releases and responses to query.Coordinate media interviews of BWXT staff and prepare interviewees as necessary.Post releases to Business Wire and administer contract.Maintain and grow media relationships, including maintaining updated media outreach list.Manage media events such as tours and press conferences.Draft and/or submit by-lined articles to publications.Draft and/or submit OpEds / thought leadership pieces for company leadership.Maintain and administer media training materials to selected staff.Maintain annual, high-level tracking of media relations activity.Provide executives or designated spokespeople with media training.Strategic CommunicationsInitiate and maintain proactive engagement with Corporate Affairs leadership team in support of strategic positioning of business efforts.Draft and/or review speeches, presentations, and white papers to ensure conformance with company messaging, coordinate review with the Senior Manager, Brand Communications and Marketing.Maintain list of approved Naval Reactors work statements.Review and approve other organizations’ mentions of BWXT in their public materials.Develop, review, and approve public messages for various other needs.Receive and route or respond to miscellaneous public information requests.Crisis CommunicationsServe as the lead communications manager for developing, maintaining, and implementing BWXT’s Crisis Communications Program enterprise wide.Update the Corporate Crisis Communications plan as needed.Train staff to crisis communications plan requirements.Coordinate with other locations’ emergency response plans.Serve on NOG Emergency Response Team.Coordinate with Business Continuity Plan and Cyber Incident Management Plan.Serve on the committee that reviews 10-Qs, 10-Ks, proxy statement, earnings releases, and investor presentations prior to final approval from CEO and CFO.BWXT Daily News Update & SubscriptionsReview and send clips daily (distribution list and RSS to E-boards).Maintain and update employee distribution list.Renew and monitor corporate subscriptions as needed.Social MediaOversee and lead BWXT’s social media strategy, including day-to-day postings and monitoring of platforms.Ensuring coordination of social media ads in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Brand Communications and Marketing.Required Skills / Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or related field. Master’s is preferred.A minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and implementing successful public relations strategies with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.Ability to build and maintain relationships with national and trade media, business partners, and senior leaders.Proven ability to lead a team and implement strategies.Ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive material.Strong writing skills, computer proficiency, and knowledge of social media.Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.Physical Requirements:Required to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds.Willing to spend 20% of the year traveling to various sites nationwide and internationally.Pay: $112,000 - $169,000The base salary range for this position in DC at the start of employment is expected to be between $112,000 and $169,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.As a federal government contractor, BWX Technologies, Inc. complies with all federal, state, and local laws and customer requirements regarding health and safety protocols.
