Job Summary
The Standard is seeking a
Software Engineer III – UI/UX
focused on AI to join our team. As a key member of the team, you will be working alongside Product Owners, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and AI Engineers to build modern AI solutions. The ideal candidate should possess strong Python programming skills, REST API development experience, and familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or Angular, alongside experience with Azure cloud engineering platform to drive innovation and efficiency in building enterprise grade solutions.
As a Software Engineer focused on AI, you will have the opportunity to:
Build highly scalable and reliable APIs, services and applications that enable custom AI (ML & GenAI) capabilities to be used by other enterprise systems.
Develop intuitive, user-friendly interfaces (with React or Angular) to ensure seamless user experiences across AI-driven applications.
Contribute to innovation and development of best-in-class patterns and methodologies that can be used to drastically evolve business processes as we know it.
Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for application deployment - ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
Play a crucial role in driving The Standard’s AI and user experience initiatives, advancing software engineering and UI/UX practices.
Skills and Background You’ll Need
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems.
Experience:
Typically requires 4+ years of related experience.
Strong skills in implementing Python API design patterns using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask. Skill in Java and Angular or React are requirements of the role.
Experience optimizing UI applications for speed, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes on Azure platform.
Demonstrable experience in configuring and implementing Azure Application Gateway and API management solutions like Azure API Management or Kong Konnect.
Hands-on experience implementing and optimizing API applications for sub-second performance.
Experience in load testing REST API applications with tools like Apache JMeter or SOAPUI.
Hands-on experience pre-processing multi-modal data (text, images) to handle user input, cleaning and formatting text.
Experience in working with event driven publish-subscribe solution patterns using solutions like Azure Event Hub or Kafka, and developing end to end orchestrations.
Experience in developing API applications to include package/dependency management tools (e.g., Poetry) and functional testing (e.g., Pytest, PyLint).
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
Working within an Agile delivery / DevOps methodology to deliver proof of concept and production implementation in iterative sprints.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
Salary Range: $108,250.00 - $184,000.00
