Are you ready to apply Make sure you understand all the responsibilities and tasks associated with this role before proceeding.Senior Design Manager - Talent CommunityJob Description:Manage multiple projects, prioritizing seismic, critical repair, and retrofit initiatives.Supervise a team of design professionals and others through the design review process.Oversee the district's design process, ensuring plans meet functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.Manage projects through interaction with architects, consultants, and district personnel, guaranteeing timely completion.Oversee the building design process, ensuring compliance with district standards and guidelines for new and modernized structures.Develop and implement a procedure for selecting the best architectural firm for each project based on qualifications and performance.Provide clear direction to architects regarding project goals, standards, sites, schedules, and budgets.Establish an efficient design review process to ensure designs meet project objectives.Optimize budgets to provide maximum value while meeting the needs of the district, community, and environment.Review design changes to ensure projects stay within budget.Monitor project planning and design, reporting findings, recommendations, and updates.Perform other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications:Required Experience
14 years of full-time experience managing facilities design, planning, and coordinating capital projects that include overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling.Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from a recognized college or university.Preferred Education
Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering.Preferred Experience
4 years of experience in design, planning, and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies.Required Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Licenses and Certificates
Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
