Ideal candidates have instructional design expertise; a well-developed eye for content quality; a zest for program management; and a proven ability to lead through influence. We are seeking someone who has direct experience making instructional video.
What You’ll Do:
Execute and direct educational content development : Partner with teammates to create high-quality written, video, and event-based education content. Sometimes you’ll have your hand on the pen. Sometimes you’ll help teammates make great stuff. Together, with Content, Community, and PMM collaborators, you’ll create engaging content that helps customers get more out of Descript.
Build always-on education programs, and the operational habits to support them:
Create integrated, cross-channel programs that coordinate and maximize the impact of our content. Look across the program to ensure we’re supporting diverse learning styles and preferences. Define and maintain operations that maximize throughput and scale—so that we make more stuff. Define and maintain operations that maximize durability and maintenance— so the stuff we make stays up-to-date.
Represent education as a discipline:
Maintain a continuously-evolving understanding of how education programs can drive growth, satisfaction, and retention at Descript. Capture and quantify the business impact of education programs. Cultivate a vision for how our education strategy should evolve over time.
Define education needs through qual and quant insight:
Work with collaborators in DS, User Research, and Support to identify topics to address with education programs. Incorporate data-driven insights and market feedback to continuously refine education content to increase engagement and drive successful learning outcomes.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams : Work closely with Growth, Lifecycle marketing, Content, and Community teams to align educational strategies with broader company goals.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven expertise : 10+ years of experience in instructional design, educational content development, or customer enablement, preferably with experience in both B2B and B2C products.
Leadership experience : 3+ years of management experience, with a thoughtful approach to helping team members make their best work.
Creative visionary : A demonstrated ability to develop unique and impactful content that engages learners and drives their success.
Collaboration mindset : Enthusiastic about working with cross-functional teams to bring educational visions to life.
Customer-focused : Deep understanding of customer journeys, with experience using qual and quant insight to inform content strategies.
The base salary range for this role is $145,000-155,000. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and they may vary from the amount above.
