Allen & Gerritsen (A&G) is seeking an experienced account lead to join our PR practice as a
Senior Director, PR
with a focus on clients spanning social impact and B2B categories. This role will serve as a client partnership lead, responsible for account success and managing team efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral member of a collaborative public relations, creator relations, and social media practice within a top independent, full-service advertising agency.
Main Responsibilities:
Drive client partnerships and account teams; this role may be responsible for managing the success of 3-5 client partnerships at any given time.
Serve as a trusted advisor and executive counselor, problem-solving in real time and providing support in times of crisis.
Manage the financial health of client partnerships, including developing SOWs, staffing plans, and budget tracking.
Develop tailored PR strategies based on the understanding of client’s business objectives, target audiences, and competitive landscape.
Partner with senior clients to develop annual PR strategies, set clear objectives, and drive toward established PR goals.
Lead development and implement crisis communications strategies as needed.
Regularly track and report on performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
While this role will primarily drive overarching account success, all team members are expected to maintain strong media relationships and excel at building successful earned media plans.
Represent the PR practice in integrated meetings and new business pitches.
Collaborate with A&G colleagues across disciplines — including strategy, performance analytics, creative, production, business leadership, and program management — to develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns.
Work in partnership with the SVP/PR practice lead to expand department opportunities and drive new business growth.
Manage 1-3 direct reports, nurturing and stewarding their careers.
Actively contribute to fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive agency culture.
Qualifications:
You have 8-10 years of relevant social impact, B2B, corporate, and/or crisis communications experience. While you crave diversity in account experience, these categories get you out of bed in the morning. Bonus points if your experience includes public policy.
You are an expert in building culturally competent social impact programs. You have experience driving PR efforts for brands and initiatives designed to amplify DEI efforts within the organization and external communities.
You excel at synthesizing and converting complex or highly technical information and data points into persuasive and impactful storytelling.
You have experience in agency land or on the client side in a fast-paced environment, leading multiple projects, lines of business, and growth areas simultaneously.
First and foremost, you are a media relations guru with experience leading successful earned media programs that have driven meaningful business results for clients.
Writing is your superpower. We’re looking for a combination of outstanding technical and creative writing that’s been applied to draft key messaging, bylines, speeches, and op-eds.
You’re experienced in new business pitch rooms and executive meetings and are skilled at presentations — both developing written communications and confidently presenting to clients and senior leadership.
You’re entrepreneurial in spirit. You respect established processes but are equally as excited about new challenges that haven’t been approached before and building something new.
You love being a people manager and prioritize coaching and mentorship of junior team members. This point is last on the list in sequence but first in priority.
