Position Overview:
Sunnyside Communities, a not-for-profit organization with three Life Plan Communities in Virginia, has a great opportunity for a sales and marketing expert to join their leadership team as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). With more than 111 years of experience in retirement living, the organization has been consistently recognized regionally, nationally and internationally for excellence in quality living opportunities that help the seniors they serve to live their best life.
Reporting directly to the President/CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team, this individual will provide strategic direction and insight– vision, leadership and management – on the marketing, sales, and business development functions of the organization. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating all sales, marketing, and public relations functions, the CMO has a primary focus on creating a first-class brand, developing integrated campaigns and communications that drive prospect engagement and demand, marketing positioning and awareness, and revenue growth. The CMO also serves as the spokesperson for the organization and is responsible for maintaining a stellar professional profile, building collaborative partnerships, and advancing the mission of Sunnyside Communities.
The ideal candidate must have five or more years in an executive role with a proven track record of leading a highly collaborative, result-oriented sales and marketing team, be exceedingly skilled in brand consistency and corporate messaging, and show extensive experience in public relations. Demands strong business acumen and analytical skills.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, management or related field is required; advanced degree or relevant certifications strongly preferred.

Extensive experience in public relations. Demands strong business acumen and analytical skills.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
Normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation and noise levels; will require some work outdoors in various weather conditions. Lifts, carries, pushes or otherwise manipulates equipment and office materials weighing up to 25lbs. Always use proper lifting and moving protocols and techniques. Considerable walking and standing; up to eight hours on occasion, driving automobile as well as climbing stairs. Minimal hazards commensurate with general office conditions with driving and/or riding in motorized vehicles.
