Working with us, you will:
Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.Assist in management of projects through developing project scope, schedules, job production, quality, and fee management.Lead programming, conceptualization, development and integration of strategic design solutions.Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials.Document architectural drawings.Assist in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addenda (CCD's), and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list.Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards and details.Lead all phases of the design process including programming and developing workplace standards.Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
The ideal candidate has:
A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.Experience working in Mixed-Use, Hospitality and/or Senior Living.The ability to set design direction for junior staff.A varied and flexible aesthetic that meets diverse client needs.Minimum 10 years of related experience.Architectural or Interior Design registration required.LEED AP preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign programs.Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.

SmithGroup offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
