Job Summary The Department of Student Media in the College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts (CARTA) is currently seeking a PantherNOW Student News Director to join their team of professionals. Duties to include the following:Responsible for news coverage at FIU in PantherNOW, The Roar, and PantherNOW.com.Ensures news content is up to date on PantherNOW.com and ensures there is a news and opinion talk show on The Roar.Coordinates and assigns a minimum of three Biscayne Bay related news stories a week.Hires three assistant directors and news writers.Manages the news department.Assigns and edits all news stories.Maintains constant communication with staff writers and other section directors and Editor-in-chief.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.Story-telling skills.Knowledgeable in InDesign.Management and team leadership skills.AP Style writing.Excellent communication skills and responds to messages in a timely manner.Ability to ask appropriate, thought-provoking questions.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.During the Summer semesters, students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

Work Schedule 10 - 15 hours, hours may vary

Advertised Salary $11.00 per hour
