Together, the organizations support the creation of a vibrant, sustainable community with equitable opportunities that meets the needs of all of its community members.Position DescriptionEast County Rising is seeking a passionate and dedicated Communications and Development Director to lead our outreach and fundraising initiatives. This role involves crafting and disseminating compelling narratives that highlight our mission and impact in the community, managing our external presence, and overseeing our development strategies to secure funding and cultivate donor relationships.The Communications and Development Director will be a core member of a seasoned and nimble leadership team. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, an understanding of East Multnomah County’s community, and a commitment to transforming governments to better reflect and engage the communities they serve.Communications & External Relations - 40%Serve as spokesperson for the organization;Manage external communications strategy for the organization, including but not limited to overseeing the social media strategy, newsletter, and reports;Lead the development of ECR’s membership model with the support of the staff and board;Envision, cultivate and direct our partnerships and represent the organization at priority coalition tables;Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, such as other community and organizational leaders.Development & Program Management - 40%Direct all fundraising efforts, with Board and Staff involvement, and support from current fundraising and grant writing consultants, including but not limited to event management and direct donor solicitation;Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders and donors;Lead administration and strategy of organization’s database;Designing, monitoring, and evaluating new organizational programs;Identify and engage potential partners, including non-profits, businesses, governmental agencies, and community leaders to foster collaborative projects and initiatives.Organizational Management - 20%Build and manage relationships with the Board of Directors and oversee board governance alongside leadership team, including scheduling and preparing for board meetings, participating in board recruitment, development, and training, and managing any board committees;Help shape and develop systems for the organization as it moves into its next chapter;Manage consultants as needed;Participate in board and staff development plans and strategic planning.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required;Demonstrated skills in fundraising, grant writing, and major event management;Project management expertise;Team leadership and collaboration skills;Demonstrated commitment to transparency and integrity in leadership;Supervision experience;Comfort with public speaking;Excellent written and oral communications;Ability to self-motivate and work independently;Ability to develop trusted and effective working relationships with diverse and multicultural constituencies, including boards of directors, staff, donors, volunteers and a diverse array of supporters and stakeholders. This includes the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with a high degree of tact and discretion;A valid driver’s license and insured vehicle;Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point;Demonstrated skill with Canva and/or other graphic design tools;Training and facilitation skills a plus;Residence or familiarity with East Multnomah County strongly preferred;Non-profit management experience preferred.Compensation and Benefits:Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 depending on experience and skills;100% employer covered Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield healthcare (medical, dental, vision);$750 computer technology one time stipend;Retirement Policy - 3% employer retirement contribution, up to 5% employer retirement match;Two weeks paid vacation plus federal holidays and additional paid vacation earned with tenure;Flex-time and comp-time;Partial cell phone and home internet reimbursement.How to Apply:Please email your cover letter and resume as a single PDF to [email address] with the subject line “Communications and Development Director.” References will be requested for final round applicants.East County Rising Action Fund is an equal opportunity employer.
