Position Description
Digital Consultants is seeking a Senior AV (Audio/Visual) Design Engineer to join our team! As a Senior AV Design Engineer at Digital Consultants, you will play a critical role in ensuring our clients have the audio/visual systems they need to succeed. You must have strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues. You will assist in designing, purchasing, and installing AV equipment. To support various customers, you will Design, troubleshoot, and maintain various AV systems and provide basic programming support. You will draft documentation such as bills of materials, design documents, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, test plans, and cabling plans. You will lead the company efforts to design and bid AV hardware and software. You will conduct quality assurance checks, provide feedback to team members, and recommend improvements to processes and procedures. Ensuring adherence to quality standards will help Digital Consultants maintain its reputation as a provider of high-quality AV solutions.
Position Location
- Digital Consultants Headquarters with customer on-site support/reporting requirements throughout the DMV area with occasional travel outside of DMV area up to 10% may be required to visit customer sites, installs, designs, and attend conferences).
Position Duties to include:
- Designing AV Systems: You will work with clients to understand their AV needs and design solutions to meet those needs. This may involve selecting and specifying AV equipment, designing AV systems and workflows, and creating schematics and diagrams.
- Upgrading and Enhancing AV Systems: You will be responsible for recommending and implementing upgrades and enhancements to AV systems, including new equipment, software, and workflows. This will involve staying current with the latest technologies and industry trends and recommending clients to improve their AV systems. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and help them achieve their goals through technological solutions.
- Installing AV Equipment: You will work with installation teams to ensure AV systems are installed properly and meet industry standards. This may involve overseeing installation projects, basic programming, testing, calibrating equipment, and training end-users.
- Troubleshooting and Maintaining AV Systems: You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues with AV systems, including hardware and software issues. This may involve troubleshooting audio and video signals, reviewing and debugging program code, updating firmware and software, and replacing faulty equipment.
- Creating Documentation: You will be responsible for creating documentation related to AV systems, including bills of materials, design documents, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, test plans, and cabling plans. This documentation will support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of AV systems.
- Providing Maintenance and Support: You will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and support for AV systems, including regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving assistance as needed.
- Ensuring Adherence to Quality Standards and Reviewing Project Deliverables: You will ensure that all AV system designs, installations, and documentation meet industry standards and best practices. You will also review project deliverables to ensure they meet client requirements and expectations.
- Assisting in Developing and Managing Project Plans: You will work closely with project managers to assist in developing and managing project plans for AV system installations and upgrades. This may involve coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, tracking project milestones, and communicating status updates. You will also help identify potential project risks and work with the project team to develop mitigation strategies.
- Minimum of current Secret clearance with ability to achieve DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record verified through a background screening
- Must have valid Driver’s License
- AVIXA certification: CTS-D
- Biamp or other equivalent certification
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience implementing AV/VTC systems for large multi-site organizations
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, and AMX controllers and Cisco Codecs
- Experience fielding classified AV Systems
- Experience with programming control systems and loading code
- Experience in/with Federal project/program management office interfacing with project stakeholders to execute AV solutions
- Understanding of OSI Layer 1-3 concepts and architectures (Physical, Data Link, Network)
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Project and Microsoft Visio
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience designing AV systems
- Skilled in Microsoft Visio
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Fabrication (welding, drilling, etc.)
Physical Position Requirements: The candidate, with or without reasonable accommodation, must physically be able to operate test equipment, machinery, and AV equipment; requires frequent physical hand dexterity and repetitive movements; may require the use of power and/or hand tools; must be able to identify colors visually; lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs.; may require extended periods sitting, standing, crawling in tight spaces if needed for cable work or installation tasks; work at heights using ladders or scaffolding; and will be required to drive a motor vehicle.
