Position Summary

This is an onsite position located in Bethesda, Maryland.

National Capitol Contracting is seeking a Audio Visual Engineer to support the NIH, the nation's premier medical research and training institution that supports global conversation that forwards human welfare.  In this position you will work closely with the Technical Program Manager to help lead, modernize and streamline all AV projects You will also work with government and contract teams to ensure a state of readiness across the NIH regional enterprise consisting of AMX, Q-SYS, and Shure systems. Your day to day will include facilitating and coaching the flawless execution of events.  You will benefit and be supported by near unlimited training opportunities, close partnerships, and exposure to the latest in communication and collaboration technologies.

Key Areas Of Responsibility

  • Assist with technical event management across multiple buildings and conference centers, supporting dedicated technicians and government organizers.
  • Generate and maintain system wide technical documentation.
  • Oversee technical execution of high-profile meetings.
  • Leads team of contract AV Technicians.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Bachelors Degree in Audiovisual, Engineering/IT, Radio/Television, or computer science. OR 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing the AV infrastructure for a state-of-the-art public-facing events, conventions, or entertainment facilities or museums.
  • Must have experience with Crestron, AMX, QSC or combination.
  • Experience troubleshooting audiovisual equipment (Direct view LED walls, control devices, switchers, scalers, wireless mics, lighting controllers, touch recognition systems).
  • Experience troubleshooting audiovisual systems.
  • Experience fabricating and installing audiovisual systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting control systems.
  • Proven track record in managing on-site technicians with exceptional troubleshooting abilities for complex technical issues.
  • Ability to read and write critically.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills working in a multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Infocomm Certification: Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Certified Technology Specialist Design (CTS-D), Certified Technology Specialist Installation (CTS-I).
  • One of the following certifications:
    • AMX Control Certifications.
    • QSC Q-sys Certifications.
    • Crestron Control Certifications
  • Digital signal processing in live environment.
  • Live & Studio audio experience: set up, mixing and recoding; microphone placement, signal path, audio processing & acoustic ambience analysis.
  • Mixing a live event for simultaneous voice lift and recording.
  • Experience troubleshooting & managing IP networks.
  • Ability to read and generate technical documentation, drawings/blueprints; CAD experience.
  • Experience with multiple computer operating systems.
  • IT Support (Network and Systems Engineering).
  • Experience troubleshooting very complex hybrid meetings(Zoom, MS Teams, Webex)
  • Experience with streaming media.
  • Experience supporting Windows, asset management, and remote control of AV devices.
  • Experience working with government contracting.

Special Position Requirements

Schedule: Monday to Friday

 

Environment/Physical Demands: Many of our site campuses are large and require travel by foot, ability to lift 30 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
