Purpose Statement:

The primary function of this role is to serve the communication needs of two MHI business unit vice president(s) and their leadership teams. Additionally, this role delivers and executes strategic communications for the respective MHI business units, reaching a diverse and global spectrum of stakeholders and cross-functional partners. It also plays a critical role in supporting team culture and broader MHI culture priorities. As an integral role within the MHI Culture & Communications (C&C) team, this individual is also responsible, within C&C, to bring and learn from best practices and partner to deliver other enterprise initiatives as needed. This individual should deliver a strong creative and strategic vision for evolving communications and culture, while also being accountable for execution. The Associate Director, Business Unit Communications and Culture will report to the Director, Business Unit Culture and Communications.

Responsibilities:

Strategic partner to two business unit Vice Presidents and responsible for communications that drive business impact with measurable execution.

Lead for business unit communication activities including All-Staff Meetings, MHI wide activities, cross-functional forums.

Lead for Business Unit VP engagements in external forums such as medical meetings and LinkedIn.

Communication Lead for business unit culture activities and responsible for advancing overarching MHI culture priorities.

Drive cross-functional alignment on key announcements such as scientific milestones, and business integrations (e.g. R&D, Corporate Affairs, Commercial).

Partner to key stakeholders, including Business Unit SPOs, chief of staff, Communications & Culture Team colleagues, to drive results.

Present communication strategy through written and verbal presentations to leadership.

Coach senior leaders in storytelling on multiple topics inclusive of strategic priorities, issues management, areas of science and innovation, as well as transformation and change.

Manage agencies and associated program budgets that support communications programming. Manage various annual initiatives within each Business Unit including but not limited to award nominations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10+ years of strategic communication experience, particularly in high-pressure, agile and matrixed environments.

5+ years of executive communications experience.

Strong strategic thinking skills and excellent execution abilities to deliver engaging communications (All-Staff Meetings, executive messages, congresses).

Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and under tight deadlines.

Demonstrated success in working with senior executives, showcasing strong emotional intelligence (EQ), strong executive presence, and the ability to build productive positive working relationships.

Communication experience with a therapeutic area preferred (Immunology, Oncology, Specialty, Neuroscience or Eye Care).

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, navigate a matrixed organization, build effective working relationships, and utilize strong influence and negotiation skills.

Ability to provide strategic counsel for a variety of communications scenarios and to a variety of internal stakeholders.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated growth mindset, self-motivation and a “one team” mindset

Demonstrated initiative, creativity, analytical and leadership capabilities

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others to achieve business objectives.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $133,500 - $253,500
