You could be just the right applicant for this job Read all associated information and make sure to apply.The Instructional Designer provides faculty with multi-modal course design support creating effective and engaging learning environments informed by desired learning outcomes. The role involves consulting with faculty from diverse disciplines teaching face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses to identify course goals and craft measurable learning objectives, select and apply appropriate designs, technologies, and assessments. An area of focus will be the integration of innovative online and technology-enhanced course components to enhance learning across different delivery modes. The Instructional Designer will also provide training to faculty through workshops, webinars, video tutorials, etc. regarding topics related to online teaching, the Canvas LMS, course design, assessment, and integration of instructional technology.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you need to be successful:

Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and methodologies, including those for distance education and performance-based learning in lab environments.

Experience aligning student learning outcomes with curriculum, course content, materials, and evaluation.

Proficient in computer applications, including MS 365 Office Suite, Adobe Creative solutions, Camtasia, and educational technologies like Canvas LMS.

A student-centered philosophy of education aligned with situated learning and authentic assessment.

Experience with program learning outcomes and accreditation standards.

Familiarity with Quality Matters APPQRM and Online Learning Consortium certifications.

Ability to respond to learner feedback and evaluate effectiveness.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Experience with universal design for learning and accessibility best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for tasks related to curriculum development.

Provides instructional design support through consultation with faculty and subject matter experts.

Applies design skills to complex, media-rich development projects.

Collaborates with faculty to develop course materials and assessments.

Facilitates professional development workshops regarding course design.

Suggests curriculum strategies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Conducts course inventories and audits to improve teaching and learning.

Maintains instructional database systems for course information.

Provides training to faculty on curriculum database systems.

Guides faculty in the application of instructional technologies.

Collaborates with faculty to map curriculum to learning outcomes.

Supports online course development and effective LMS use.

Maintains professional knowledge through educational development workshops.

Serves on College committees as required.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in curriculum and instructional design or similar required.

3 years of experience in instructional design at an institution of higher education.
