We’re seeking a dynamic Director, Social Media Data Science, and Insights to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the analysis of social media data across organic, paid, influencer, and earned channels, continuously testing and uncovering insights that drive strategic decisions for the business. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of social media metrics, behaviors, and technology to enhance marketing effectiveness, efficiency, and agile decision-making. This position requires the ability to tell a compelling story using data and translate complex insights across platforms and tools into actionable strategies and ideas.
The Director, Social Media Data Science and Insights will manage a team that builds and maintains executive-level global data reporting and insights best practices. They will work cross-functionally with marketing leaders, content creators, and product development to influence SharkNinja’s social media marketing strategy, creative optimization, and product development direction.
Responsibilities:
Data Exploration: Create a learning agenda to identify, test, iterate, and scale innovative strategies and opportunities across key social media platforms such as Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, Snap, etc.
Execute Data Analytics Strategy: Use data analytics to uncover hidden insights and drive action across social media marketing, product development, and community engagement.
Tech Stack Optimization: Assess and manage technology partners and solutions to maximize utilization and extract incremental value from social media data tools (e.g., social listening platforms, influencer measurement tools, platform data, AI tools for data analysis).
Collaborate on Strategy: Partner with internal teams to implement and optimize social media strategies based on data-driven insights.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Use advanced data analytics, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning, to inform social media strategy.
Develop Reports and Dashboards: Build and maintain executive-level reports and dashboards to track performance metrics across organic, paid, influencer, and earned social media content.
Process Automation and AI Integration: Identify opportunities to increase process automation and integrate AI/ML solutions to improve efficiency and data analysis capabilities.
Competitive Analysis: Conduct social media market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
Global Reporting Leadership: Oversee the creation and maintenance of a global social media reporting center of excellence, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all channels.
KPI Measurement: Establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of social media initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Proven Experience: 10+ years of experience in Data Science, analytics, and 3+ years of experience in a leadership role overseeing data analytics function in a consumer-driven industry.
Social Media Expertise: Strong knowledge of social media metrics, behaviors, tools, and platforms for both organic, paid, and earned social media campaigns.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.
Data Science Expertise: Expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, data mining, and machine learning techniques related to social media.
Tool Proficiency: Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
Technology Savvy: Familiarity with AI tools and big data platforms to enhance data analytics and reporting capabilities.
Business Acumen: Strong ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights that drive strategy.
Data Privacy Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security in social media data management.
Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of data professionals to achieve outstanding results.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with experience managing global responsibilities and contributing to leadership teams.
