The Role
The Director of Public Relations will oversee, develop, and execute an annual strategic and integrated plan that supports the Brand’s commercial strategies and the Hotel’s business objectives, including Public Relations, Collaborations, Digital Media, Social Media, and Marketing Communications.
This role is essential to positively position the Hotel, its Food and Beverage Outlets, Spa, Amenities, Meetings and Events, and Personnel as world-class, while at the same time, contribute to driving traffic and revenues to this iconic destination. Through creative and strategic thinking and execution, this role will increase awareness and visibility of the Hotel, and further enhance its offerings, contributing to driving business objectives while liaising as an essential ambassador of Four Seasons Hotel Miami within the community, press, and collaborations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Public Relations and Communications
Through proactive ideation and planning, develop a year-round integrated Public Relations and Communications blueprint across all Hotel pillars that supports Four Seasons Global Commercial Strategies.
Executes strategies to grow PR Impact metrics including impressions and reach, supporting the hotel’s performance on monthly commercial scorecard.
Work closely with all Hotel departments to develop new storylines; lead and manage departmental PR and marketing meetings; represent Public Relations and Communications team throughout hotel meetings and operations.
Anticipate need periods, as well high demand periods, and activate teams to develop thoughtful and results-driven experiences that support our hotel positioning.
Press Room management including monthly posting of press releases, creation of story starters, and optimizing fact sheet and bios to highlight and communicate our news effectively and maintain prominent engagement on our Four Seasons Press Room.
Identify target publications, manage media communications, develop new connections, coordinate media visits and interviews to generate ongoing coverage.
Act as daily liaison for Public Relations Agency support when retained and pitch brand agency all-call editorial opportunities.
Execute PR strategies within the Restaurant & Bar Toolkit to ensure maximum exposure for R&B outlets.
Maintain image library to ensure the best representation of property.
Manage PR related tracking and reports and create highlight presentations.
Ensure monthly to quarterly sharing of PR and Communications highlights to hotel stakeholders.
Conduct a benchmark on a regular basis with key competitors (local, national, international) and in the luxury space (retail, travel) to determine opportunities to improve our PR position.
Together with direct reports and corporate support, act as needed according to the crisis management plan to any Hotel emergency or safety situation.
Brand and Community Collaboration
Procure and execute marquee collaborations and experiences with aligned luxury brands in fashion, wellness, art, culture, and all lifestyle spaces that support the hotel positioning.
Seek, identify, and execute local event participation and key destination experiences that reach our local surrounding communities and target audiences.
Be active within relevant local and regional committees and associations.
Engage with local visitors’ bureaus and tourism boards for potential collaboration and awareness opportunities.
Brand Management
Ensure visual identity applications and brand guidelines throughout department and hotel.
Lead the coordination and creation of hotel promotional items, newsletters, and seasonal brochures.
Production and coordination of Hotel photo and video shoots.
Website and Social Media
Lead and direct website and social media content strategies based on Public Relations and Integrated Communications plan and initiatives and understanding of social media landscape.
With direct oversight of Digital Marketing Manager, you will lead the manager on focus responsibilities which include:
Social media content curation, calendars, community engagement, collaboration, and reporting.
Online presence of hotel to ensure information accurately reflects the hotel’s current business objectives, offerings, and storytelling. This includes “Local SEO” needs which includes up-to-date information and postings for Google Profiles.
Online review management.
Support the hotel’s digital communications strategy including email, paid media, and social media marketing as needed.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education and Experience:
College graduate.
Prior experience in Director of Public Relations role.
Minimum of seven years of management experience in public relations, communications, digital marketing and related industries, preferably within the lifestyle and hospitality industries.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
Active understanding of Hotel business mix, consumer profile, and insights.
Knowledge of industry and market trends and developments.
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to negotiate mutually beneficial collaborations.
Excellent writing, presentation, and communications skills, with a strong sense of quality and a creative mindset.
An eye for aesthetic.
Knowledge of InDesign and production methods in graphic arts and collateral.
Attention to detail and organization.
Media relations experience.
Ability to manage third-party agencies, partners, and vendors.
Demonstrated knowledge of mobile, emerging, and media applications.
Ability to multi-task effectively, managing multiple projects while being cognizant of deadlines and priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
