Apply fast, check the full description by scrolling below to find out the full requirements for this role.Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering seeks candidates for a Public Communications Specialist to join its outstanding team of faculty, staff and students. The USC Viterbi School of Engineering is committed to increasing the diversity of its staff and welcomes applications from women, underrepresented groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Under the direction of the Department Chair and Director of the Ming Hsieh Institute, responsibilities include:Maintain and update the main department website as well as several secondary sites.Manage all department social media accounts and databases, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr, and Vimeo.Create a variety of content for public consumption, including articles, press releases, blogs, videos, photo essays, and website copy.Maintain a monthly newsletter to all internal USC Viterbi/ECE constituents.Manage two student workers who help in the regular maintenance of website content and the development of new communication content (including short articles and video blogs).Help to plan, organize, and/or promote a variety of ECE events throughout the year, including the annual department research festival, two new student open-houses, ECE student club events, distinguished lecture series, etc.Act as liaison to USC Viterbi communications for media outlets who are seeking technical experts for news stories.Help to promote department news to both internal audiences and external partners and/or media outlets.Compile and store general data that is relevant to department leadership decision-making (grant totals, number of funded projects, alumni contact information, etc.).Coordinate regularly with offices across Viterbi for information-sharing purposes and collaboration, including Awards, Advancement, MarCom, Innovation, etc.Meet regularly with students one-on-one to gain insight into their experience and collaborate on projects and communication pieces.Photograph all department-related (and some school-related) events and organize and share photographs with USC Viterbi and the wider community.Coordinate with outside vendors, including photographers and videographers, on a variety of projects.The annual base salary range for this position is $76,074.89 - $86,569.45.
