Associate Designer - Leather Goods

Partner with cross function departments such as product development, technical design, and merchandising teams to send technical drawings and curate styles and colors for each season. Research leather trends and materials to develop innovative leather design ideas each season. Design mainline handbags with understanding of Marc Jacob’s bold branding and design within the $195 to $795 handbag price market. Create mockups, work with prototypes, and prepare technical drawings. Review the work of assistant designer and review/edit sketches. Design handbags for runway shows. Collaborate with other design team members to design a cohesive collection. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and 3 years of experience in the position offered or as a designer or assistant designer for a global luxury fashion brand with annual revenues of at least $280million. All required experience must have included using Adobe Photoshop to create three quarter view handbag design mockups and color renderings; using Adobe Illustrator to develop detailed technical drawings of actual size drawings and construction details of handbags; employing knowledge of handback construction, design process, and leather goods; assisting with handbag pattern making and sewing for mock-ups in paper, fabric, and leather; and assisting with designs through at least 4 seasons per year for mainline products and 2 runway shows per year.
