KEYC/KMNF is looking for a dynamic reporter/meteorologist. The ideal candidate must be a great communicator with a passion for meteorology, a master of social media, and a focus on lifestyle. The successful candidate must be organized, and motivated and create great content for all platforms. Grow your career in southern Minnesota's hidden gem, close to Minneapolis but without the headaches of the big city.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Create and deliver compelling weather content•Use a "Think like a viewer" mindset in covering local weather, what will a viewer find relevant•Edit video blending natural sound with field interviews and reporter track•Write clear, concise news copy that is balanced•Shoot video using the station's broadcast quality ENG Equipment•Update station website and social media accounts•Adhere to station branding and promotion•Be a great communicator on air, online, and in person•Be fluent in the latest weather technology•Be a passionate, accurate forecaster•Other duties as requested by News Director and/or General Manager
Qualifications/Requirements:
•Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology or equivalency•Prior on-air meteorology experience preferred•Strong verbal and written skills•Ability to work well under pressure and work well with a diverse station staff•Must be willing to work flexible shifts, and be on call when necessary•Valid driver's license and good driving record•Excellent presentation skills, judgment, and ethics•Drive to develop original content•Understanding of digital/social media platforms and strategy•Produce content with urgency and immediacy•Strong work ethic, organizational and leadership skills•Integrity, accountability, teamwork
