POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to:
Social Media Manager
The Marketing & Communications team at Destination DC (DDC) crafts brand messaging and marketing strategies specifically for Washington, DC, the product we represent. Our diverse team includes graphic designers, content developers, social media specialists, advertising planners, PR experts, event activators, and more. We work together to position Washington, DC as a top-tier destination for locals, visitors, and convention attendees to explore and enjoy.
You'll work closely with the Social Media Manager to create engaging content, manage social media channels, and analyze performance metrics. Your passion for DC and your understanding of social media trends will be key to capturing the city's essence and sharing it with the world.
This is an ideal role for you if you are a
skilled communicator with a strong attention to detail. You'll collaborate with various teams within Destination DC to create content for internal departments such as convention sales, memberships, and partnerships.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(include the following, but are not limited to)
Brand and Content Marketing:
Works closely with social media manager and executes organic social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Pinterest, including B2C brand (@visitwashingtondc) and B2B brand (@destinationdc) accounts, aligning with brand, campaigns and business objectives.
Content Creation:
Manages a social media calendar in multi-channel scheduling tool, and creates and publishes social videos, stories, giveaways, posts and real-time event coverage across industry and leisure social channels.
Day-to-Day Support:
Achieves social media objectives by creating and executing social videos, stories, giveaways, scheduled and real-time posts, and other social content across industry and leisure social.
Visual Content Support:
Serves as the primary on digital asset platform, requesting user-generated content for use across social, web and in marketing collateral.
Community Engagement:
Monitors comments, messages and mentions and fosters positive engagement with followers.
Creative Services:
Serves as a key contributor to cross-department social media requests, support partnerships, convention sales and members, among others.
Analytics & Reporting:
Understands and uses social analytics to improve performance and suggest changes.
Industry Awareness:
Shares industry trends, new tools, platform updates to ensure content remains engaging for travelers.
Destination Expert:
Taps into the latest buzz about the destination, gets out into the city to create new content, establishes relationships with counterparts and brands to share the most compelling content.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
What You Bring: Knowledge, Competencies & SkillsA minimum of 1 previous social media management experience.Expert knowledge of the marketing applications of Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn and other social media platforms.Experience monitoring, measuring and analyzing social media activity.Excellent verbal, written and proofreading skills.Must reside within the DC metropolitan area.Aptitude for crafting engaging content.Ability to solve problems and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.Ability to organize and synthesize information from multiple sources.Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment, marketing department and organization.Experience with social media management platform like Sprout a plus.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.Willing to work weekend and evenings.
