Specifications Writer
who enjoys the intersection of design and construction. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys transforming technical information into clear specifications that guide the building process. While prior specifications experience is preferred, we are open to training candidates who have an Architecture or Construction degree and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the industry.
The internal Specifications team collaborates with our design studios to provide innovative solutions for design challenges. This position includes minimal travel, including occasional conferences and industry events. Baskervill is seeking a skilled

What you’ll be doing:
Collaborate with internal Design teams to gather information and requirements for Project Manuals in various Market Segments,Develop and edit detailed Architectural Specifications for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements,Maintain up to date knowledge of construction industry trends, and advancements in materials and technology,Respond to internal design teams who are seeking solutions for Materials and Specifications inquiries,Coordinate and publish specification documents, including documents prepared by consultants,Utilize online and internal resources and collaborate with representatives for product research,Coordinate schedules and deadlines with internal team and external consultants,Incorporate applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, regulations, statutory and documentation requirements for specifications,Develop in-house templates and assist with development of training documents.
What you’ll need:
5+ years of professional experience,Bachelor of Architecture or Building Construction required; licensed or on track for licensure preferred,Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) preferred. If not presently certified, the CDT certification can be earned within 3 years of hire date,Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Speclink or Specpoint preferred,Experience with reading and interpreting Project Manuals required,Knowledge of AIA Masterspec, national building codes, AIA documents and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Project Delivery Practice Guide,Working knowledge of construction techniques and building envelope,Experience with sustainability requirements such as LEED, WELL,Experience working with governmental agencies and building/zoning codes preferred,Understanding of professional practices, potential liabilities in design and construction, and professional ethics.
