Job Description
The Advertising & Promotions Specialist is responsible for developing marketing materials for United Pacific’s retail locations including all graphic design for externally used marketing materials. The Specialist will work closely with Category Managers and product vendors to create needed materials while ensuring visual marketing remains consistent and drives United Pacific’s brand image. In this creative and hands on role, the Specialist will work closely with the Brand Marketing Director to ensure a thorough understanding of United Pacific’s marketing goals and creative direction and to assist in developing advertising plans to achieve company sales goals. The Specialist will keep abreast of industry trends and competitor activity and recommend changes to advertising plans based on this understanding. The Specialist will also assist in developing United Pacific’s digital footprint and social medial presence. The Specialist will partner with United Pacific’s vendors for printed materials to ensure correct pricing and service levels. The Specialist will also ensure that they act as an advisor and support to the retail operations teams, regarding printed materials and advertising plans. The Specialist will track marketing material budgets and marketing material ROI’s. The Specialist will also assist in any administrative tasks related to retail marketing materials.
JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for creating in-store advertising collateral including shelf tags, window clings and all forms of in-store signage.
- Responsible for ensuring the availability of printed marketing materials for the stores. Working closely with the company’s vendor for printed materials (GSP) to ensure that service levels are maintained, pricing is competitive and monitoring any technical challenges the retail team may have in ordering and obtaining materials.
- Oversee Impulse Surveys, including collecting data and ensuring surveys are completed correctly. Also responsible for developing reports for Category Managers, retail teams and senior leadership to understand customer feedback to marketing materials, products, pricing and promotional programs.
- Assisting the VP Marketing & Merchandising in developing advertising strategies via digital and social media channels.
- Through partnership with company Videographer/Photographer, create videos and photos to highlight products and programs via video screens at the pumps, United Pacific’s Social Medial channels and growing digital footprint.
- Conduct regular competitor research and stay up to date on the latest product and industry trends to ensure marketing materials are competitive and project a modern and progressive image of the company and its products.
- Lead company rewards and loyalty programs through third party vendors.
- Lead the employee discount incentive program.
- Close partnership with retail operations management and field merchandising to ensure that advertising collateral and its instore placement is clear, consistent and effective.
- Track manage and report marketing material budgets.
- Track and report marketing collateral ROI including presenting to executive leadership program results.
- Partner with legal compliance teams to ensure marketing collateral follows legal guidelines.
- Provide administrative support to the VP Marketing & Merchandising as needed.
- Support ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal applicant must be a proactive team player, require minimal supervision, have a positive “I Got It!” attitude, and be eager to learn and assimilate new skills to further Company objectives.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Graphic Designer, Graphic Artist or Marketing Specialist in a retail, restaurant or consumer goods environment. Prior experience working in a convenience (c-store) or retail gas environment is beneficial but not required.
- Candidates must also possess at least 3 years of in-depth experience in the design of printed marketing materials including in-store signage. Samples and/or portfolios may be requested at the time of interview.
- Candidates must possess at least 2 years of experience in digital marketing including developing creative content for online platforms and executing Social Media advertising strategies.
- A 4-year degree in Marketing is required.
- Proven intermediate to advance skill levels with visual design tools including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Familiarity with online digital tools and/or storytelling platforms, such as Adobe Spark or Visme, is strongly preferred. Basic skills in writing HTML is preferred.
- Candidates must possess proven proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Candidates must possess proven experience writing marketing copy.
- Candidates must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills including experience presenting to large and small groups.
- Experience in developing, tracking and maintaining budgets is required.
- Candidates must be both creative and business minded and possess experience working on dynamic print marketing campaigns.
- Candidates must possess experience in project management and possess a proven ability to work independently and with little direction.
- Candidates must possess strong influencing skills and the ability to develop partnerships with internal teams.
