KNBN Newscenter 1, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is looking for an Evening Anchor/Producer to join our growing team and r eport news on-set, in newsroom, and in the field . Rapid City is a growing city located in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. It offers a plethora of things to do in your free time, from visiting local attractions like Mount Rushmore, to skiing and hiking in the foothills of the Black Hills! NewsCenter1/KNBN-TV produces over 16 hours of local news, weather and sports content each week as we continue to grow our staff in the news department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Anchor daily newscasts, and d eliver live, scripted, pre-recorded, and breaking news reports, whether in the studio or in the field
  • Comply with journalism ethics and standards, and ensure a professional appearance, manner, and use of language throughout broadcasts.
  • Write, edit, and produce daily news stories and voice-over's to air in daily newscasts.
  • Collaborate with newsroom staff to gather and record news content.
  • Organize segments to ensure the most interesting and timely pieces are presented first.
  • Suggest and research news and current events on the local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Interview guests and other members of the community involved in stories.
  • Report "live" spot news stories.
  • Establish and maintain news contacts in the community.
  • Engage and be active in the local community, including public appearances at various events.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a news anchor or broadcast reporter is strongly preferred.
  • Active social media presence - will promote and support brand awareness on multiple social media platforms.
  • Proven media personality, with the ability to remain comfortable and professional while on camera.
  • General knowledge of local, national, and international affairs.
  • Passion for breaking news and current events.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to improvise on camera when necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Ethical and professional research, writing and reporting skills.
  • Team player who works well both collaboratively and independently.
