The College of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts at the Texas A&M University seeks to hire one (1) full time faculty member at the level of Professor or Associate Professor (tenure review conducted upon hire) depending on qualifications in art history and/or visual culture, with a nine-month academic appointment beginning fall 2025. The College has a strong intellectual commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to humanities research.





Candidates should have an ongoing research agenda consistent with the expectations of an R-1 university, gaining or maintaining visibility through peer-reviewed academic research publications. The College is particularly interested in scholars whose research engages with formalist and theoretically grounded humanities/critical studies. Candidates should have a research focus involving one or more of the following emphases:




  • synthetic media and art,

  • gaming and interactive visual culture,

  • emerging media platforms.







Global and transnational perspectives are encouraged.





Candidates should be prepared to teach:




  • the introductory visual studies course for undergraduates in Performance and Visual Studies,

  • special topics courses that intersect with art history and media studies both at the undergraduate and graduate level,

  • and a variety of other courses at the both the undergraduate and graduate level serving the needs and interests of students in the college.







Candidates are expected to contribute to academic and professional service as appropriate.





The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is a College within the Texas A&M University System and has a diverse and dynamic mission with nearly 100 faculty and more than 30 staff members and a projected exponential growth in the next 5 years. The College was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies (that included a film studies program), and the Dance Science Program. The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research. Texas A&M University leadership has charged the College with developing innovative research and creative works, public performances, and degree offerings at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels that build upon our strength in merging art and science, as well as the traditional fields of music, dance, art, and theater.
