Responsibilities:
  • Serves as primary digital and film projectionist in our two auditoriums.
  • Responsible for downloading and ingesting for digital films.
  • Provides advanced level of support for screening 35mm films as well as caring for archival copies of films.
  • Does test screening of films before public screenings.
  • Oversees condition reports for incoming and outgoing films with Conservation dept.
  • Schedule and work with outside vendors to support and repair equipment in the two auditoriums, to including regular preventative maintenance.
  • Cooperates with the Film Department to ensure films arrive and leave on time.
  • Provide instruction for other AV techs and museum employees. Maintain training and procedural documentation for both theaters.
  • Provides technical support for various event types in the auditoriums, including tech checks with presenters and performers.
  • Provides audio and video documentation of museum events, education programs and assorted training sessions for archival and study purposes.
  • Assists AV Dept to plan, install, construct, operate and maintain media equipment in exhibitions.
  • Assist AV Dept with installs and maintains permanent installations of AV equipment throughout the museum campus including repairing and replacing.
  • Keeps the inventory of equipment accurate and current in relevant areas.
  • Trains On-Call staff as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Expertise in projecting digital and 16/35mm films.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to support events that have multiple components, such as a film followed by a Zoom conversation with the director.
  • Must have experience supporting and maintaining digital projectors, as well as 35mm and 16mm motion picture projectors at a basic level
  • Recommend having experience supporting live audio systems, videoconferencing and other audio-visual hardware.
  • Must be able to evaluate, implement and promote digital media equipment, software and services that meet museum needs. IE Playback Pro, DCP software, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, be detail oriented and have a strong work ethic.
  • Strong computer skills required including Windows, Microsoft Office and Apple software suite. Must have basic knowledge of computer networking concepts.
  • Must be able to prioritize, work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have professional appearance and demeanor appropriate to working in a professional environment.

Education and Experience:
  • Five years audio visual experience, film theater preferred.
  • Previous exhibition installation experience preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check.
