Responsibilities:

About the role

The Communication Manager develops and executes both internal communication plans and marketing communication plans to promote GM Financial, its culture and its products and services. This team member ensures clarity and consistency of messaging and brand in all communications that support and promote GM Financial.

  • Manage the creation and execution of corporate communication programs and services encompassing company mission, values, standards, strategic initiatives, business objectives, career and benefits information, and other critical information to inform, educate, and engage employees at all levels
  • Manage the creation and execution of marketing communication programs and campaigns that support the company's strategic initiatives and business objectives
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, training, operations groups and internal and external communication teams to ensure consistent, integrated communication
  • Write copy for internal and external projects including, but not limited to, company publications, collateral, brochures, direct mail, trade shows, digital ads, social media, servicing and training guides, etc
  • Collaborate with consumer or dealer services, remarketing and other departments, including internal audiences, to implement communication programs and to support company marketing plans and initiatives
  • Work closely with creative team to develop professional look-and-feel of materials consistent with GM Financial's image, brand and corporate tone of voice
  • Manage all aspects of communications activities for assigned projects, products and channels Copy, edit and proofread communication materials Ensure GM Financial style, formaResearch and write internal and external product/service documentation
  • Create or edit content for GM Financial's corporate website or other digital properties, including social media and affiliated sites
  • Manage assigned communications related to industry events, including event messaging, attendee invitations and communication
  • Work as part of cross-functional team to effectively launch and promote products and services Assist other Communication team members with internal or external communication projects May manage creative and production processes through outside agencies


Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of, and or experience in the following:

  • Electronic and print communication processes
  • Organizational communication and BB marketing theories and practices
  • Public relations and corporate communication principles and practices
  • Coordinating people and teams to a common goal
  • Brand messaging, product messaging, event planning and video production
  • In-depth understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios
  • Advertising through social channels
  • AP style and development of marketing collateral (digital and traditional)
  • Management processes such as planning and personnel administration
  • Blogging ecosystem relevant to the Companys field
  • GM Financial business processes
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Social media savvy
  • Self-starter and team player able to work seamlessly with team members, executives, vendors and customers
  • Highly developed writing and editing skills with an understanding of news, feature and online writing styles
  • Leadership skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience in the development and implementation of strategic and marketing communication
  • Basic software applications (eg, Outlook, Word, Excel, Lotus, Access, Internet, Email)
  • Ability to identify and reach specific audiences and their needs
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and balance multiple initiatives using effective time management skills
  • Ability to positively lead, coach and develop others
  • Clear articulation of messages in all media
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with all levels of team members and management

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Mass Communications or related discipline; or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years Corporate Communication, Marketing, Advertising or Journalism experience required
  • Portfolio with extensive writing and marketing communication experience for both print and digital media required
  • Experience in finance or automotive industry preferred
