Salary:
PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $4,860 - $6,480. The units will determine the actual salary.

The Department of Communication Studies is seeking candidates for adjunct teaching positions to teach one or more online courses in the following areas of Strategic Communication:
CMT 1010 - Foundations in Communication
CMT 1090 - Elements of Interpersonal Communication
CMT 2000 - Media and Society
CMT 2020 - Small Group Communication
CMT 2050 - Communication and Culture
CMT 2065 - Investigating Communication
CMT 3030 - Persuasion
CMT 3040 - Organizational Communication
CMT 3045 - Communicating Leadership
CMT 3080 - Strategic Communication
CMT 3090 - Public Relations
CMT 4000 - Digital Communication
CMT 4021 - Communication Internship
CMT 4040 - Advanced Strategic Communication
A commitment to excellent online teaching at the undergraduate level in a Christian liberal arts context is preferred for a successful candidate.
Due to specific State Authorization laws, we are only permitted to hire applicants living in the following states: Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin
Adjunct faculty must have knowledge of online pedagogy, instructional strategies and principles appropriate to teaching adult students. Adjuncts are also expected to have knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Please realize that there may not presently be an adjunct position available. When an opening becomes available for which you would be a good match, the department chair will be in contact with you for further dialogue, interviews, etc.
Approved applicants will remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year only. To be reconsidered for the following school year, applicant will need to reapply. If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.

- Participation in program, department, and/or institutional activities as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. (preferred), M.A. in field of communication, strategic communication, rhetoric or similar degree
- Online course development experience preferred
- Online teaching experience required
- Adult teaching experience required
- Personal: Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.
- The position is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
