Roaming Community Manager (Affordable Housing - Section 8 & Tax Credit Experience) - Kansas City Area
Location: Kansas City, MO (with frequent travel across the Kansas City metropolitan area)

We manage and maintain a portfolio of affordable housing properties, including Section 8 and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) developments, across the Kansas City area.
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Roaming Community Manager with specific expertise in affordable housing, including Section 8 and Tax Credit properties. In this role, you will oversee daily operations of specific community in the Kansas City area. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with affordable housing regulations, fostering positive relationships with residents, and promoting a strong sense of community. This is a mobile position, requiring regular travel between identified properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Property Management & Compliance: Oversee day-to-day operations of affordable housing locations in the Kansas City area, ensuring compliance with HUD, Section 8, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements and ensure all documentation is accurate and timely.
- Resident Relations & Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and fostering a positive living environment. Organize and lead community-building events and initiatives tailored to the needs of residents in affordable housing communities.
- Leasing & Occupancy Management: Ensure properties maintain high occupancy rates by overseeing leasing processes, conducting move-ins, move-outs, and renewals. Collaborate with leasing agents and maintenance teams to ensure the timely turnover of units and address maintenance requests efficiently.
- Reporting & Documentation: Ensure all records and reports are maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements for affordable housing. Prepare regular compliance and occupancy reports for management and external agencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in property management, specifically with Section 8 and LIHTC properties.
- Proven knowledge of HUD, Section 8, and LIHTC regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of affordable housing challenges and the ability to manage diverse resident populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to resident services.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple properties effectively.
- Ability to travel regularly across the Kansas City metro area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Property Manager (CPM), Tax Credit Specialist (TCS), or Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) certification preferred but not required
- Experience working with low-income populations and community support services.
