Content Development Specialist

Department: Marketing & Communications

FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt

Salary Level: 5


Position Summary:
  • As a senior member of the marketing team, the Content Development Specialist oversees the development, implementation and optimization of UHAʻs digital and traditional marketing campaigns to attract, engage and retain prospects and clients. This individual develops content using primary and secondary research and data to understand audience insights and preferences, and monitors marketing performance for continuous improvement.
  • The Content Development Specialist wil be expected to work independently with minimal guidance, and will oversee project team members and vendors. They will also serve as mentor to junior team members to grow their content development skillset. The individual is expected to stay informed about the market, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Content Strategy and Development

  • Collects and analyzes data to create effective content aligned to UHAʻs brand in a cohesive manner across multiple advertising platforms
  • Serves as the lead to ensure UHAʻs brand strategy is correctly and effectively communicated in content across all marketing channels including advertising, e-newsletters, website, blogs, social media, presentations and other projects
  • Works closely with MarCom leadership team in the development of content strategy to support business goals, with an emphasis on improving brand awareness, growing audiences, and lead generation/conversion
  • Develops content plans and calendars aligned to UHAʻs marketing plan
  • Directs creative writing and visual design, including oversight and collaboration with vendors
  • Leads and participates in inter-departmental projects to foster relationships and support organizational goal

Digital

  • Leads social media team to develop and execute strategies and campaigns to amplify and increase distribution of UHAʻs content
  • Monitors social media channels and works with social media team to ensure inquires and comments received are acknowledged and routed as appripriate
  • Remains current in social media marketing and messaging trends, with the goal of elevating relevance of UHAʻs brand
  • Assists with monitoring and optimizing website performance as a result of digital content marketing efforts (including SEO/SEM, digital advertising and social media sourced traffic and lead generation/conversion)

Other

  • Oversees key annual projects including the Annual Report Card
  • Participates in company sponsored events and activities, providing support as needed
  • Assists in other marketing areas as assigned

    • High School Diploma
    • 2 – 3 years of experience in a communications or marketing capacity, preferably in an in-house marketing department or corporate environment.
    • 3 – 4 years experience in content development.
    • Proven experience in content production, understanding how to efficiently produce high-quality content with limited resources that aligns with the broader marketing strategy.
    • Proven project management and organizational skills, ability to prioritize projects, effectively plan, execute, and manage timelines, budgets, resources, and coordinate with interdepartmental teams and vendors while operating with a sense of urgency.
    • Must be able to adapt on the fly to shifting priorities as directed by MarCom leadership on short time frames.
    • Flexibility and exercising good judgement with minimal guidance is a key requirement.
    • Experience and familiarity working with various social media channels, audiences, tools, and current knowledge of best practices.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Creative thinker, with ability to use data to inform decisions.
    • A solid portfolio showcasing recent writing samples (copy writing, editorial and/or stakeholder communications.)
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
    • Must have driver’s license and access to personal vehicle.
Preferred and Advanced Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a communications or marketing capacity, preferably in an in-house marketing department or corporate environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with photography, videography, and/or video editing.
  • Basic proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Canva, Hubspot, and other marketing tools.
  • Experience with email and marketing automation tools such as Sales Force Engage and Mailchimp.
  • Experience in direct/targeted B2B marketing.
  • A basic knowledge of HTML.

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring the associate to flex his/her time management, organizational and communication skills while maintaining attention to detail and remaining both flexible and solution-oriented.
  • Sedentary work at a computer workstation.
  • This position is work from home and may be required to come into the office as directed

Hours of Work

  • Must be flexible to work weekends and/or evenings as needed for mandatory events as directed by MarCom leadership.
Vehicles
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance in accordance with UHA required minimums (see Use Of Personal Or Rental Vehicles And Mileage Reimbursement Policy number A-012 in the UHA Policy and Procedure Manual).
  • Must have access to an automobile and be able to travel in automobile
