Job Summary:
As a Technical Writing Specialist, you'll collaborate in a team to create and validate technical documentation supporting Navy customers and personnel. With a focus on defense and national security, your documentation will play a key role in providing accurate information to decision-makers, ensuring they are equipped with clear and reliable materials regarding systems and tools.
Required Qualifications:2+ years of experience in generating technical documentation for a technical or informed audience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF formats.Navy Experience. DOD ExperienceExperience with documentation revision and version control practices.Ability to interpret and document complex software and hardware products, including certification processes.Familiarity with digital collaboration tools, such as Teams and SharePoint; experience with document automation platforms like PandaDoc is a plus.Basic development knowledge, with the ability to apply technical best practices to documentation systems.A strong commitment to creating high-quality documentation and enhancing user experience.Excellent writing and communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.Key Responsibilities:
Create, review, and refine user-focused documentation of the highest quality.Contribute to the development of technical writing tools, including style guides, documentation lifecycle management, and review processes.Collaborate with Engineering to deliver accurate, compliant documentation that enhances the user experience.Apply strong knowledge of English language structure, composition, and grammar.Tailor communication to target audiences, utilizing effective listening and interviewing skills.Follow and implement DoD MIL standards and style guides in all technical documentation.Demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning and managing increasing responsibilities and complexity.Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, focused on shared success.Operate autonomously, managing multiple tasks with occasional tight deadlines.
