Longy School of Music of Bard College prepares graduate students to make a difference in the world through their artistry. The Artist-Teacher of Composition teaching position is a unique opportunity for an educator who wants to be part of this mission. We're looking for a mentor and guide who can help students discover their artistic identities as they develop the skills, artistry, and passion needed for a multi-faceted, entrepreneurial career.
Longy is seeking applications for a composition faculty member who is a leader and a coach, who sees the potential in every student. Candidates should have the skills needed to help students develop their interests and curiosity, prepare a graduate recital, and embark on a career. The candidate's own career should include diverse music-making experiences and projects.

Qualifications
A qualified candidate must possess an outstanding record as working artist in one or more fields within music creation including but not limited to: notated composition; sound art or installation; film; media composition; electronics; other fields within music creation and must have followed a multi-faceted career path. A degree in music or demonstrated equivalent is required.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide innovative weekly, hour-long private lessons to graduate-level musicians, and recitals and provide professional feedback.
- Creatively incorporate the Longy mission into private lessons: "to prepare musicians to make a difference in the world"
- Actively recruit high-level graduate composition students to Longy
- Attend graduate student admission auditions, student juries, dress rehearsals, and recitals and provide professional feedback
- Take steps to raise the profile of the Longy School and its Composition and Theory Department
- Propose and teach courses outside of studio lessons if desired, when opportunities arise
