EMERGENT METHOD is hiring: Communication Intern in Baton Rouge

Emergent Method seeks a student intern to support a wide range of communication, marketing, and general business tasks for firm and its clients. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who is eager to learn, is organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in developing high-quality deliverables.
This internship is based in Baton Rouge, with flexible working hours and locations. Internship working hours may be during and after business hours, and a blend of in-office and remote work is possible. This role requires the availability to work 20-30 hours (or more, depending on availability) per week.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Drafting deliverables such as newsletters, press releases, media advisories, and reports
• Creating content for social media and managing a content calendar
• Designing social media graphics and formatting documents and presentations
• Conducting research and maintaining lists, databases, and spreadsheets
• Developing meeting agendas, summaries, and action items
• Collaborating with team members to support various projects and tasks
• Assisting with administrative tasks such as running errands, stocking supplies, and providing general office support as needed
• Providing event support as needed

Qualifications for this position include:

• Studying toward a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, journalism, public relations, political communication, English, marketing, or a related field
• Strong written communication skills, including an adept knowledge of AP Style guidelines
• Strong visual communication skills, including an adept knowledge of Canva and Adobe InDesign
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of social media platforms, including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Nextdoor, and social media trends
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to complete tasks
• Effective time management, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
• Strong work ethic with a keen attention to detail
• In good academic standing
• Involvement in extracurricular activities with demonstrated leadership experience
• Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding internal practices, as well as client names, projects, and other information
