Job Description
Shive-Hattery’s Commercial Market Sector has an immediate opening for a Creative Strategist Group Leader opportunity. Though the Civic Buildings Market Sector would be the primary focus for this role, the successful team member may participate in other market sectors as necessary.
Responsibilities:
The Creative Strategist Group Leader would independently lead projects and teams of an increasingly complex nature, with minimal supervision. Recognized as an internal trusted advisor, maintaining a broad internal and external network. The role would work under the supervision of Commercial Business Unit Director.
This role confidently leads the proposal/Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) process, leading the team with minimal supervision to produce compliant, competitive materials. In collaboration with seller-doers, leads development of pursuit strategy, production, and presentation coaching. Researches clients, contacts, competitors, and markets, and shares information broadly with sector marketing teams and seller-doers. Stays on top of sector industry trends to understand the market forecast, what is top of mind for our clients, and uses this information to plan and tailor communications.
May pilot projects benefiting the firm in areas such as project storytelling, employee engagement, process improvements, training and implementation of new tools, seller-doer or marketing team skills development, or internal communications. Role is less focused on recurring or less complex projects but may train and oversee other marketers on these tasks. Increasingly focused on operations, client experience, marketing strategy, and cultivating the talent pipeline. Other duties as assigned, pending individual business unit needs.
Is expected to identify growth opportunities and continually develop knowledge, skills, and abilities, sharing expertise with colleagues. Expected to obtain advanced training or certifications such as Adobe Certification, CPSM, CXMP, APMP, or similar.
Will be responsible for leadership of Creative Strategist Group that includes coaching and staff development, wage and salary responsibilities, timesheet approvals and workload planning
Requirements:Requirements:
- At least ten (10) years of marketing or proposal development experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
- Proficient with producing and interpreting reports and managing data in Microsoft Excel or similar programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage quick turnaround times and short deadlines
- Ability to coordinate and manage information and tasks with a variety of colleagues
Skills and Competencies:
- Effective communication across written, verbal, and visual mediums is a fundamental component of this role. You must be able to listen and distill information from a variety of sources, develop a marketing and/or communication strategy, and produce compelling materials for a variety of audiences
- You must be able to write clearly and concisely, and be able to articulate messaging through proposal design, presentations, ads, etc. while adhering to brand standards

- Must possess strong leadership skills – you will need to be able to make and execute decisions quickly, work independently and with others, and exercise good judgment and critical thinking
- While industry knowledge is not required, to be successful, creativity, initiative, and motivation to learn will allow you to grow in your role
