Design AssistantDepartment: Design Team (Interior Architecture)Employment Type: Full TimeLocation: San Francisco, CAReporting To: Senior DesignerCompensation: $62,400 - $85,000 / yearDescriptionNICOLEHOLLIS, an award-winning, large size Interior Design firm seeks a talented and motivated Design Assistant to assist our Design Team.The Design Assistant contributes to the success of NICOLEHOLLIS by assisting in general office and design duties, drafting, sourcing, coordinating, filing library and images. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience, focusing in high-end interior design.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop interior designs and interior architecture designs using knowledge of the principles of interior design and theories of human behavior; appropriately convey conceptual, functional, life-cycle performance, environmental, and safety requirements.Assist Design Team in development of preliminary space planning, design concept studies and sketches, design presentations, moodboards, 3D models & visualization, rendered floorplans & elevations, full set of construction drawings, specifications packagesAssist in preparation of specifications and schedules packages for all millwork, casework, appliances, plumbing, hardware, finishesPrepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts; power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; adhering to regional building and fire codes, municipal codes, and any other jurisdictional statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to the interior space.Work with Senior Designer to update schedules, budgets, meeting agendas, meeting notes, purchase orders, specifications, folders and files, archiving, project materials and submittals, resource library, vendor contacts and moreCoordination and correspondence with various consultants, vendors, manufacturers, fabricators and contractorsAssist in overall maintenance of materials library under supervision of Librarian (sorting fabrics samples, organizing finish samples, updating labels and catalogs, and more)Attend and represent the Company at industrial events, trade shows, and networking eventsRun errands to showrooms, act as liaison between the Company and vendorsEfficiently work with a team of designers and interns; demonstrating strong collaborative and communication skillsREQUIREMENTS & CORE COMPETENCIESREQUIREMENTS Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior ArchitectureMinimum of 1 to 2 years interior design experienceComprehensive knowledge of Interior Architecture scopes in residential and hospitality design standards.Excellent presentation skills, including space planning and drawingProficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, MS Suite, Sketchup (or similar 3D modeling software)Strong knowledge in construction drawing sets, detailing, materials, methods, fabrication, interior finishes, programing, and codesExperience selecting and specifying equipments cabinetry, appliances, hardware, materials, and interior architecture finishes.Must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors and internal staffAbility to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projectsCORE COMPETENCIES Task Focus: Delivers legendary service to clients and vendors that meets and exceeds expectationsEthics & Integrity: Adheres to the Company's. values, beliefs, and principles of innovation and excellence in designComposure: Remains calm, maintains perspective, and responds in a professional manner when faced with tough situationsPersonal Learning: Takes personal responsibility for the continuous learning of new knowledge, skills, and experiencesDealing with Ambiguity: Able to successfully function during times of uncertainty and changing prioritiesDecision-Making: Makes keen, timely decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgmentInterpersonal Savvy: Builds effective relationships with all people-up, down and sideways, inside and outside of the CompanyResults Oriented: Proactive attitude; Gets results and achieves goalsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position will be working in a typical office setting, with no extremes in temperature or lightingAble to occasionally travel and present at offsite locations in the Bay AreaApplicants should be able to work with equipment typically found in an office and should be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation.
