Summary
The Assistant Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications provides support on the implementation, management, and evaluation of communication strategies across different platforms in support of the university's goals for undergraduate enrollment. This includes printed materials, emails, text messages, and web content aimed at potential undergraduate students and other relevant stakeholders at various stages of the recruitment process. Reporting to the Senior Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications, the individual also acts as a project manager for all enrollment marketing and communication efforts and ensures that the messaging aligns with enrollment objectives across all media channels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications, manage and execute a comprehensive (first-year, transfer, parent, counselor, etc.) enrollment communication plan across print, email, SMS, web, and other external vendor sites.
Serve as lead copywriter for enrollment communications in accordance with editorial standards, university policies and branding guidelines, and industry best practices. Conceptualizes and authors original copy to tell John Carroll University's story passionately, professionally, and persuasively.Plan and author messages to non-student constituents, such as parents/families, high school counselors, community-based and college access organizations, independent educational consultants, community college transfer advisors, alumni, etc.Serve as the main reviewer on all enrollment marketing collateral to ensure accuracy of content and consistency in messaging strategy. Leads in gaining necessary internal approvals.UtilizeTechnolutions Slate CRM to set up Deliver mailings. Assists with the day-to-day setup of email/SMS messages, recipient lists, liquid markup/conditional logic, and A/B testing for all mailings in Slate, including ad-hoc messages, process/deadline reminders, and form communications.Assist with construction and maintenance of Slate landing pages and portals.Support the upcoming redesign of the admission pages of the JCU website. Oversee, maintain, and optimize all undergraduate admission pages.Act as lead liaison between Enrollment Marketing and Communications and Integrated Marketing & Communications teamsCreate and manage communications and marketing needs with key admission vendors (e.g. Appily, College Board, Encoura, Gecko, Intersect, NextGrad, Niche, SCOIR, etc.)Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of communications efforts and deliverability of email campaigns; monitors and researches other institutions' marketing approaches and industry-specific trends.Build, maintain, and manage a comprehensive communication sequence document/database, and project management documents/database.Participate in enrollment related activities/events as needed.Other duties assigned upon request.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or other related field of study.At least 2 years of relevant experience with a track record of achieving project goals.Outstanding communication and organizational skills.Strong project management skills and the ability to serve as technical lead on communication projects.Understanding of project management systems -Basecamp a plus.Preferred Qualifications
3 or more years of relevant experience.Master's Degree in a relevant field.Prior experience in a higher education environment.Knowledge of Technolutions Slate CRMProject management experience
Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions
This position works in person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. However, this position may be required work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary will be $44,000 - $48,000, commensurate with qualifications. This position offers a generous Total Rewards package that includes health and dental insurance options, paid vacation, personal, sick, and mission time, holidays, 403 (b) retirement plan, life insurance, and tuition remission benefits for you, your spouse, and children.
