Position Description
The Communications and Marketing Specialist works with a team of marketing, public relations, and graphic design professionals to develop and execute effective marketing and communications initiatives across multiple platforms. This position is an effective storyteller, responsible for writing creative promotional content, and accurate and clear informational content, and delivering that content over various digital and traditional platforms.Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Writes creative, persuasive promotional content for print and digital marketing collateral including ads, commercials, publications, brochures, and digital monitors
*Writes and formats compelling email and newsletter content for the general public, community stakeholders, and prospective and continuing students, and disseminates using email distribution system
*Writes press releases, student success stories, and website news articles that highlight Wake Tech initiatives, activities, and successes.
*Writes accurate and effective internal informational messages for employees and students
*Supports the coordination and execution of marketing campaign activities, including delivery of advertising assets to vendors and oversight of marketing tables at key events utilizing promotional collateral, signage, and giveaway items
*Attends college and student events, taking photographs and video, and writing articles for dissemination on website, social media and in printed publications
Serves as liaison with student leaders and helps mine success stories about students and alumni
Writes and posts announcements and digital slides on the college's employee and student portals
Serves as back up on social media and digital monitor posting as needed
Supports special event planning
Collaborates with Creative Services on design, photography and other visuals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of marketing and communications best practices to leverage consumer psychology and targeted marketing to create long-term strategies to ultimately increase enrollment, retention, and engagement of current or recent students
Skilled in market research, data interpretation, and use of analytics to track outcomes and assess effectiveness of messages, modalities, and timing, and adjusts marketing communication plans accordingly
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in digital communications methods and strategies, including but not limited to: email, social media, website, mobile app, and digital publications and monitors
Ability to problem-solve, thinking logically, and troubleshoot issues
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and work with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work outside of normal business hours to relay important announcements or attend student events when needed
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
Two years' experience in communications, marketing, public relations with a focus on digital communications
Must be able to work outside of normal business hours when needed to perform the job
Preferences:
