Job Summary: The Marketing & Communications Specialist will support the Florence Unified School District's goals by implementing communication strategies that enhance community engagement, increase visibility, and accurately represent the district's mission and values. This role involves creating and managing digital and print content, supporting internal and external communications, and promoting district-wide initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities:Content Creation & ManagementDevelop, edit, and publish content for district platforms, including the website, social media channels, newsletters, and other communication outlets.Coordinate and produce engaging materials for district events, including press releases, brochures, and newsletters.Assist in creating graphics, presentations, and multimedia content to support various district initiatives.Community EngagementAct as a liaison between Florence Unified School District and the community, fostering relationships with local organizations, families, and community leaders.Assist in planning and promoting district events, ensuring effective communication and outreach to stakeholders.Monitor and respond to inquiries on social media and other communication channels to maintain a positive district image.Brand and Message AlignmentUphold Florence Unified School District's brand identity across all materials and ensure consistency in messaging that aligns with district goals and values.Conduct regular audits of district communication channels to maintain brand integrity and update content as needed.Media RelationsPrepare media releases and act as a point of contact for media inquiries, under the guidance of the Director of Public Relations.Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and other media opportunities to highlight district achievements, events, and initiatives.Analytics & ReportingTrack and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies, compiling reports to provide insights and recommendations for future efforts.Monitor web and social media analytics to assess engagement levels and suggest strategies for improvement.Internal CommunicationsCollaborate with district departments to support internal communications that promote positive engagement and awareness among staff.Assist with the design and dissemination of newsletters, updates, and other materials for district staff.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.Proven experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably within an educational setting.Proficiency in digital content creation, social media management, and knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with school district operations and the specific needs of the Florence Unified School District community.Experience with media relations and event planning.
Work Environment:
This position primarily operates within an office environment at Florence Unified School District's central office, with occasional travel to district schools and community events.
Terms of Employment
Salary based on the Classified Salaried Exempt schedule as established by the Governing Board.
12-month position
Benefits as assigned for the position.

Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
Valid I-9 form
Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Director of Finance in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
