Our client, a well-known apparel brand based in Los Angeles is looking for a Technical Designer to join their team contract to hire. Please note, this role will work a hybrid schedule, Tuesday through Thursday onsite with Monday and Friday remote. Role is focused on mens and womens contemporary apparel including denim.
Responsibilities:
Partner with creative design team to achieve aesthetic while adhering to a production time and action calendarCollaborate with the Technical Design Director and cross-functional partners to land on appropriate fit and functional intent for each product designManage all technical requirements to develop and execute processes from product development to productionCreate and maintain detailed tech packs including specs, tolerances, grading, detail sketches with construction/stitching and fit evaluation commentsConduct fit sessions on live models and mannequins to evaluate samples for fit, measurement, construction, pattern shaping and functionalityProvide technical direction, internally and externally, on corrective actions needed to bring samples to brand fit and stylingIssue grading guidelines to vendors after fit approvalMeasure and evaluate garments from proto sample through TOP samplesParticipate in wear fit testing programsMaintain close partnership with production teams to maintain on-time delivery throughout the pre-production process and proactively monitor seasonal workload
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Design, Technical Design or Patternmaking5+ years of experience in Technical DesignKnowledge of pattern making, construction, industry fit knowledge and gradingComprehensive understanding of product engineering, development and manufacturingAbility to lead fittings, take detailed and accurate notesHigh accuracy in math skills for correct spec revisionsProficiency in Flex PLM, Adobe products, Microsoft Office, 3D Browzwear a plusSuperior organizational and written communication skills; team orientedAbility to work in a fast pace, high performance environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountabilityExcellent time management skills and effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines
